My oldest son is new to all that world popmusic, fan stuff and he has not determined his favorite music style yet since he is only 9. So one day i discovered that my son started to listen to Enrike Iglesias and Lady Gaga. I was confused and angry at the same time. I am emotional person, so my first reaction was maybe too "sharp". I dont like such a music, he plays ice hockey which is sport only for real man, not some iglesias listener i thought. But i had enough strength to restraining and i started to think how to change sons choice in music style.
Then i remember Linkin park. Their music is not so brutal, hard as metal which i listen by myself and they are musicians from bands popular amongst youngs. Once i said that instead of listening Iglesias i can show him some new music on youtube. He had little suspicions, but agreed to listed to my offered music. I opened some Linkin park Youtube videos. Surprisingly for him and to joy for me he liked Linkin park alot. Now he listens it every day from his mobile phone and i am started to worried about him being too attached to LP.
Your thoughts on this?

Congratulations on saving your sons music life! No, but seriously, I just can't stand all those pop-idols nowadays that can't sing at all, unless they have a computer plugged to their mic. It really makes me frustrated! Where did all the real singers go? All those who could actually sing using only their own voice. Sometimes I really wish computer editing software and especially autotune had never been invented.
And yeah, I really adore Linkin Park as well. I'm going to my first Linkin park concert ever at the 30th of October, this year. I'm quite excited, actually. What are your thoughts about Linkin Park concerts? have you ever been to one? If not, why not?

I heard that Rammstein concerts should be quite awesome, actually. I've never been to one though. Mostly because I am not the hugest fan of them.
And yeah, Evanesence makes some really good music. I listen to it at least a couple of times per week, It's awesome :)

My thoughts are that LP is amazing, I listem to them some hours a day, especially the new album "A Thousand Suns". I've improved my English listening skills just by listening their music. So there's nothing to worry about.

Well, I also adore listening to LP. Their music is not too powerful yet they have a certain air around them. Their lyrics are also amazing.
I do not think however that him listening to Enrique Iglesias or Lady Gaga makes him any less of a man though. I personally know of a guy (with 3 children and loves to race)that like listening to Mariah and Celine Dion. Maybe your son is just interested to the genre...

Hey - celione dion and mariah have voice and they can sing classical music too if they wants, but lady gaga is nothing more than pop music created so that everyone buy it!
My family from mother side is all musicians (violin, piano etc), but i think that like s of such music comes with some age and experience.
