Have you ever skipped classes?

I think almost all students have skipped classes in college life. It is a common phenomenon in college. I sometimes found some lectures to be boring enough to put me off to sleep and so decided to bunk that professor's class and go for a movie or a quick bite at the local fast food store.
What is your say?Have you done something similar?

For the most part I did not skip my classes. In high school I was one of the few who never skipped a class ever. In college I probably would have had the same record but I had one class where the teacher encouraged us to skip. It was indeed very very boring, and he said as long as at least one student showed up, he was happy. So we would all take turns skipping his class and we all got A's. It might not have been ethical, but then who would not take an opportunity like that?

I'm just in first yr college right now, and I haven't tried skipping classes yet. Even in high school, I didn't try it. I give importance to my studies a lot because I appreciate what my parents are doing for me. I know that they love me, that's why I don't want to make any instance that will make them hate me a lot. And besides, I value my education because I will also benefit from this. This will give me a meaningful future: a life full of success. :)

Yes, like you, I have also been in that situation wherein I find the subject boring and in the end just decided not to attend the class. I think that it is quite normal that a student does this once in a while. As long as you don't totally neglect your duties as a student and do your homework.

I have skipped classes when I was in high school. Because when I came in, im late and I dont want all eyes on me. So my friends and I decides to watch a movie and eat something. It was a real boring subject though and the teacher is not at all enthusiastic. Sometimes we just get our attendance checked and eventually go out of the classroom. I havent skipped classes intentionally in college. Because subjects are really hard and needed more focus. I skipped classes because basically I am late for the subject and my teachers would not let us in.

Yes, i skipped a lot of classes in my life, especially when I was getting my Masters degree, as I was working at that time and it was really hard for me to combine work and studies. I felt bad that I needed to skip some classes, but I always took materials home and studied hard.

I was never a class skipper. i enjoyed education. You don;t learn anything if you are not there to hear it and experience it.

I had one professor that stuck to his syllabus. There were no pop quizzes. I showed up for the tests, did the reading of all the articles he posted for us to read, and the long book, and just skipped the lectures. it was a waste of my time to be in the class, when he just read what he thought were the most important parts of the assigned text for the week. There was no discussion.

Yes of course i did! Skipping class is a student's prerogative with a risk. When we are young we love doing something without thinking of the consequences, but that's why being young is fun!

I usually try not to skip classes, but I do admit that I have done it a few times already. But only when I feel like I have a valid reason for it, like I have to study for an exam on the next class, I have to finish a project or I had to go somewhere important. I think there was only one instance when I stepped out of the class because I was very sleepy and I spent a few minutes chatting with my other friends hanging out somewhere near my class before I stepped back in, so technically, I did not skip the class hehe

During my elementary and high school years I really didn't have the chance to cut classes. Our school was very strict. However, when I reached college, skipping classes was very common and I was guilty of this. Sometimes if I don't feel like going to school I don't go. What's funny sometimes is I am with my mom during these hours.

Not in college, but I have skipped classes many times in my school life. It can't be helped, for example, in the typical class that you have in the very first hour in the morning with a teacher that doesn't really care much and whose explanations are plain boring... I tried to go to those lessons but my classmates always ended up leading me the wrong way so we would go to the nearby cafe instead

Hi oindy,
True that many of us have that habit of bunking classes during college. I am not an exception either. I remember that we were a gang of 12 friends who used to do things together. We bunked almost every class during our first two years of college (we call that as Intermediate after which we go for the 3 year Graduation, you might be aware being an Indian).
We found the shift from school life to college life a very drastic one and felt that all our lecturers were on some context or the other trying to find out faults with us. So we bunked almost 75% of our classes adn spend the time playing cricket in the field, went off to see cinemas and also did participate in social charity work of our own.
Cheers,
theSids.

The only time I did this(skip class) was on my last year in college, I thought it would be my last chance to actually "enjoy" my student life. I've been a good student all my life,(well, almost)I never skip classes and I always go home straight from the school. Some people would think I'm not normal, but would you believe that even when I am already working, I still go home straight from work. :)
