at the moment i am watching a very old vampire film. over the years luckily the films have got alot better. it makes me think while watching either old vampire films or new vampire films. what ever possesed somebody to dream up the idea of vampires? or, is it in any way possible that at some point vampires actually did or do exist. what are your thoughts on this? for me i feel that it is all just completely made up.

There many stories in history which can be the start of the vampire romance. The most common one is a count and some say he is the original Dracula. He was known as Vlad the Impaler

He was best known for impaling his enemies on stakes around his palace to show his power to his people. You can read more about him on the link I proved.
But since times long ago, there have been myths about people who drink human blood have been around. There was once a noble woman who would bathe in the blood of her young servant girls because she thought it would keep her younger. In her lifetime she killed over 100 young girls just to drain their blood for her bath. Today some people even believe they are vampires and drink blood now.
But Vampires are truly mythology. But like most myths there is always the shred of truth in it. People don't just 'make' things up, but expand on the truth. Even some thought to be mythical creatures had a base hold in real life 'monsters' people would encounter. The fantasy of Dragons came from creating an ultimate fear combining everything people are most scared of and cultivating it into legend. In some ways we won't know where all these came from, but the fact that history had offered evidence of the base lines for vampires shows that people thought the once existed in their time.

i have no idea who dreamt up the ideas of vampire films or even programmes. I have not seen an old vampire film in years, although i would agree with you that they are a hell of a lot better now. I quite like to watch them myself actually. I don't really think that they ever did exist or do currently exist. Well i hope not, i will start to check my neck every morning now just to be on the safe side, lol. For me it is all completely and utterly made up. But hey, atleast people are able to profit from these stories.
