WTF?? Someone thought Sharron Angle was Asian? She made that claim after telling the Hispanic Student Union at Rancho High School in Las Vegas that they didn't all look Latino to her, some of them looked more Asian. This all came about when some of the students expressed anger over the Angle campaign's anti-illegal immigrant message. When the students asked pointed questions about her political ads that show a stock photo of three Hispanics labeled as illegal's crossing the border, Angle said:
"I think that you're misinterpreting the commercial. I'm not sure that those are Latinos in that commercial. What it is - is a fence and there are people coming across that fence. What we know is our northern border is where the terrorists came through."
She followed that up by saying, "I don't know that all of you are Latino. Some of you look a little more Asian to me." adding, "I've been called the first Asian legislator in our Nevada State Assembly."

HOW does this woman have a snowball's chance in he11 of winning this election? I mean, even against someone as "charasmatically challenged" as Harry Reid? You all know she's going to soon deny ever saying these things, don't you?

I wonder where she lived when she was in Carson City. The one neighbor that we lived in was full of the state House and Senate and most of them were nice but, a little whacky, she might have been my neighbor LOL
Maybe she thinking Hawaiian not Asian or maybe it was Polish or oh hell I don't know, I can't come up with anything good. Her and the nutjob from California should go start a village somewhere up in Alaska. He wants public education to be like it was in 1825 and she seems like her education is from 1825 so they would do well together

Yup...of course it was based on 1825 education system
The education thing has me mad can you tell? But, did you know that if the conservatives had their way and ended the Department of Ed. that all funding for students with disabilities would end?

I have seen the stock photo of the three illegal immigrants and all three of them appear to me to be Hispanic. I never thought that one of them could have been Asian but I never thought that Angle could have been mistaken as Asian either. Harry Reid must be terrible disliked in Nevada if they are statically tied in even poll I have come across. Just imagine how bad Reid would be getting trounced right now if he was going up against a more savvy Republican.

Hi, Annie: The wrong angle appears to be leading in the polls right now. But she is not the only one. Is it our desperation, our ignorance, or both that make us so gullible? We stand for nothing and fall for anything. All over the country there are candidates who know nothing about the constitution and know nothing about history but think they can step in and change everything. They are pawns for special interest groups and we don't have sense enough to see it. Heaven help us all.

I just don't get it! The majority of these "tea party" candidates that have been getting all of the national attention wouldn't have had a snowball's chance in he11 a few years ago. Fine, they're not "career politicians", is that the ONLY qualification someone needs today? That and being a right wing extremist? These days having a good education is a bad thing, knowing what you're talking about is a bad thing and being able to talk properly is a REALLY bad thing.

Well, it is a mess, that's for sure. Any candidate opposed to illegal immigration, if put in the same spot, would struggle.
Note that the students are mad at Sharron Angle. Did she write the law? In most cases we still choose to elect people who will uphold the law. How do you reason with an angry mob of people demanding their rights? That is an uphill battle.
Or maybe we think that an angry mob has the right to tear down a law they do not like.
Sharron Angle tried to clarify that the issue was about a fence and a border being crossed illegaly. She was not singling out Latinos. It did not matter if they were Latinos, Asian or Muslim. It does not appear she got the point across. It would not be reasonable for anyone to decide for or against Angle based on this one incident though.
This problem will ever be messy if some people choose to judge it from the standpoint of personal feelings, and others want to judge it from the standpoint of law. Many people, when assesing this issue from these two different perspectives would not come to the same answer for each.
This is the same issue Meg Whitman has with her housemaid. The housemaid, who had enjoyed the good life for some time was found to be violating federal law.
- entered the U.S. illegally
- falsified documents
- stole someone's social security number
- worked illegally in the U.S.
- continues to reside illegally in the U.S.
- possibly some tax evasion
What terrible thing did Meg Whitman do when this information surfaced? She fired Nicky Diaz. It was the only legal thing she could do.
Yet Meg Whitman is considered the bad person here. Was she really obligated to ignore the law and become a co-conspirator with Nicky Diaz? That seems to be what the crowd wants.
Even though this is nonsense, the end result is that Meg Whitman lost several points in the polls.
Generally, laws cannot be made while looking at individual people. They must be made from the standpoint of principle and what is best for the country as a whole, while keeping personal interests in mind. Sometimes easier said than done.

But we can go on and on nitpicking about little comments that don't make much sense and certainly don't carry any weight. As someone once advised me, didn't you ever mispeak?
I attempted to comment on the meat of the issue, but of course it is only through my perception.

I'm not going to stray form the subject at hand to Meg Whitman's problems although I have definite opinions on that as well.
However, this is about Sharron Angle and more stupid things coming out of her mouth. "Some of you look Asian to me"...? It was a Hispanic group, how could she NOT know the students she was addressing were Hispanic? The kicker was when she said she had been mistaken for an Asian herself..good one, and my cat was mistaken for a dog!

Meg Whitman is not the subject here, but since you brought it up, I believe the housekeeper. Meg reacted when she got caught. End of story. Ms. Whitman was too contrite - liar written all over her.
