Kids surfing some stuff in the internet

Now a day children at a young age get to use internet, there are alot of information shown to them including adult stuff. Is there a certain way that a child can only surf the kids stuff and prevent them from surfing or seeing adult advertisement?

Yes there are programs and stuff made so children can't access adult material but the only problem with that is if they can't get on to what they want on their own computers then chances are they will head over to a friends and get on it. My step sons does this every now and then when I tell him he can't go on facebook or MSN messenger.

thanks for the comment. Parents can block websites and application but a children has a way to cheat to get online.
