I love to listen to music. Even when I was a kid, I love listening to the radio. Music makes me relax when I'm upset/frustrated, wakes me up when I'm sleepy, relaxes me when i want to go to sleep. Lately, I've been very busy and frustrated that I turned to music again. I saw this video on Youtube about Hillsong United. Then I downloaded their "Hosanna" song. It's a christian song and I love it. The first time I listened to it, I liked it immediately and I felt at peace. Now when I want to calm myself I listen to Hillsong United.
How about you? What kind of music do you listen to when you want to relax?

Dear friend,
There are lots of music that make me relaxed according to the moods that change in me. Sometimes I would like to listen to slow one, sometimes heavy one. More over I do also listen those chanting of OM and other God related chantings which gives me much relaxed and good mind. It depends upon the change in music according to change in music.

Among the first stress-fighting changes that take place when we hear a tune is an increase in deep breathing. The body's production of serotonin also accelerates.
Music was found to reduce the pain during dental procedures.
Playing music in the background while we are working, seemingly unaware of the music itself, has been found to reduce the stress.
Music was found to reduce heart rates and to promote higher body temperature - an indication of the onset of relaxation. Combining music with relaxation therapy was more effective than doing relaxation therapy alone.

Many experts suggest that it is the rhythm of the music or the beat that has the calming effect on us although we may not be very conscious about it. They point out that when we were a baby in our mother's womb, we probably were influenced by the heart beat of our mother. We respond to the soothing music at later stages in life, perhaps associating it with the safe, relaxing, protective environment provided by our mother.
Music has special role on the relaxation from stress. I like normally melodies. On depending mood various school of music I listen.

Listening to the sounds of nature, such as ocean waves or the calm of a deep forest, can reduce stress. I try taking a 15- to 20-minute walk if you're near the seashore or a quiet patch of woods. I have tapes of these sounds in many music of nature and hear in my room. It is a different feeling to hear the music ( sound) of the nature.

I listen to smooth jazz when I want to relax. Somehow or rather, I find that jazz helps to calm my mind and to me, it's much better than those baroque or classical music. Those music makes me sleepy rather than relaxed, LOL.

What makes me relax? Maybe music or watching the television. But the most effective and cost-free relaxation for me is to watch my dogs and cats play, especially when they are running around the house "Playing". I even allow them to lick on my face and neck (that tickles). For a family member they take away stress and loyal friend.

I listen to rock music mostly, there's a band called "Hidden In Plain View" and they have done some of the most breath taking songs. For a rock band they had a special way of putting emotion into their tunes, with lyrics adding to the finish product. It's a shame that they only released two full length cd's but hopefully between them all new bands will develop.

It is said music is universal language to all just that different people have different frequency. When I want to relax I do not listen to music. I listen to music only when I am bored and need some "noise" for my ears. I often listen to chants and mantras.

Yes, musics is a great way of relaxing, but it seems not for everybody. Some people have no feeling or interest in music.
My life would feel empty without music, and I have played piano since the age of about 6. I was also professional for many years earning my living from music.
Music can be used to help one feel more energetic or more relaxed. It depends on what sort of music is used. Some Mozart music (60 beats per minute) is known to improve the mind's ability to relax and absorb information. It is because the heart beats at 60 BPM when a person is in a relaxed state. _Derek

I love music of any kind. I start humming with it, and it gets my mind off of stressful situations. Music is the universal de-stresser. What would we do without it??

My favorite kind of music for relaxation is classical music, Chopin, Mozart, Johan Strauss, Beethoven, Brahms, and also those of other countries and cultures. Very relaxing and very enchanting. I have a collection of CDs of classical music, and I listen to them every evening after getting back home from work. That's the way to get rid of all the stresses of the day !
