Starting a new book when you haven't finished the other one

Does this happen to you? Do you read books simultaneously? One after the other? It's happening to me right now. I recently started Eat Pary Love by Elizabeth Gilbert but then I saw this book Jodi Picoult "Handle with Care" so even when I'm not yet finished with the first one, I started reading it. Now I'm alternating my time reading two books. It's fun. What books are you reading right now?

Well, I know some people who like to read more than one book at once, skipping from one to the other: they say that they enkoy it... As for me, I prefer reading only a book at a time, but it's a matter of tastes. For me, reading is like entering in a world: once I entered it, I prefer to stay here, instead of jumping from that world to another one and then getting back to the previous one. I'm used to concentrate on one thing at a time, when I read. ^-^

Different strokes for different folks they say :) But I agree with you. Somethings need to be enjoyed just by itself. And there are books that I concentrate on. Enjoy the story from start to finish.

I get through books quite quickly. If I am using public transport to commute, I'll usually read or fill out crosswords/ sudoku. I try not to start a book if already read another, though I might buy it to read later.

No, I like to finish a book and then I can start to read another new book. I don't like reading books at the same time because sometimes it will be confusing. I love China

I like to read more than one book at the same time. I often read 2 or 3 books, and it has never been a problem for me to remember the different stories. I read some chapters in one of the books and then I read the second book for a while etc. I have done that for years. When I was a child my parents always told me that it was a very bad habit to read many books at the same time and they tried to convince to read one book at a time instead, but I kept on doing it, and I like it that way. I have heard about an author who writes 3 stories at the same time and if he gets stuck in one story he moves on to one of the other stories, I am not sure that I would be able to do that, but reading several different books isn't a problem for me.

I tried doing this, but I didn't know that there has to be a limit on that. There was a time when I'd read 5 books all the same time. I ended up getting lost and didn't finish reading most of them. I'm going one by one right now. I really need to practice the virtues of focus in every aspect of my life. Might for others, but sadly, not for me :(

Typically I only read one book at a time. That way I finish faster. But occasionally I'll start a new book before I finish with the old one and I'll wind up switching between the two. Sometimes when I have a really long book that's a much harder read then all the others... I'll put it by my nightstand and read it every night before bed. A little at a time. At the same time I'll still carry a book with me wherever I go, usually a much easier read then the other one.

No, I rarely do that. I prefer to enjoy each book fully, so I want to concentrate on one book at a time. I know a lot of people who do read multiple books at the same time though, I just don't.

It depends on what I'm reading. Before I only read one book, but in the last 2 years I've been reading 2 books at the same time. Sometimes I get bored with a book, and I pick up another to read it. When I get bored with that, I go back to the other book. :) Right now I'm reading You've Been Warned by James Patterson and Daughter of Fortune by Isabel Allende.

For me, i did not do that because if i read a book, i will make it sure that i will finish it before i will read another one.

Yeah! multiple book reading is fun. What I do currently, when I commute everyday using the public transport I read "Five People You Meet in Heaven" then during lunch breaks I got to a nearby bookstore and sit down for a while and read "Secrets" after I go back home, just before bedtime I read "The Lost Symbol." I had been doing this simultaneous reading for quite some time now and amazingly the mind is able to store all the information pretty well without me getting confused.
