The worst lesson

oh, do not be despair. Judging from what i read here, you are doing great with your English lesson. Though, I am not really perfect in using the correct grammar because sometimes I slips, too, but I can tell if the person is already adept to the language or not and you are considered in the former category..:) Maybe, your foreigner professor has a twang that it makes it difficult for you to understand his words. There are foreigners that thought they can speak english fluently , they are less comprehensible because of that so called twang, or the way they pronounced the words. You can improve your english by reading english newspapars, magazines or even pocketbooks.They have that correct grammar and usage of words. You'll learn faster from reading those. Practice your thoughts, too. Instead of saying things in your native tongue, try talking in english. You'll be more confident with that.:) Goodluck....

What are you struggling with? Is it grammar and spelling? Is it the Literature? There are several different fractions and aspects of English, so you have to tell us where it is exactly that you are struggling with. Honestly, keeping listening to English songs, keep reading English books (if you can get them with the tapes that would be great), and keep watching English shows and movies. In order to master the basics of any language you have to use it everyday for three years.

Don’t let the occasional bad day to deter you from learning, It is difficult to learn a foreign language and perfectly normal to have difficulties understanding at times. I suggest exposing yourself to English as much as possible such as reading books written in English and perhaps watching movies in English too. Give yourself time; if you don’t give up you will be amazed what you will learn.

Here we can see your English is Ok! So just relax. I just graduated from my university and my major is English. I also usually thought how bad my English listening speaking and writing were. But now when i talk with my foreign customers, although i make "thousands of" mistakes they can still understand what i am talking. You can watch some English TV series, movies and listen to English songs to practice your listening. Chat with your classmates, roomates and friends in English to practice your speaking. Finally keep a diary in English to practice your writing. GOod luck!

Hi koAebryant! I personally believe that language learning should not only come from hearing it but speaking it as well. The more we hear and speak the better it is. And then what follows is writing it down. We are very fortunate today that there is the internet which have many resources for language learning. So do take full benefit of them.

The only way to perfect the English language is continual use. myLot is a great place for you to continual to use the language as you continue to respond to discussions it will give you a better understanding. By the way reading from you post I can see you are doing quite well. So relax and do not try too hard; try to continue as natural as possible.

First don't be so hard on yourself. My first language is English and I am Still learning it! The only thing I can suggest is to find an American or English friend and let them help you. Us Yanks may not be teachers but we Can help with spoken English. English is one of the hardest languages to learn because the rules change.So all you can do is practice. Good Luck.

Do not lose hope buddy, everybody starts from zero, in due time you will be able to communicate in english perfectly, just be patient and you will be able to achieve it i am sure, we do not learn english overnight :)

the first step is that not to loose confidence and remember that every mistake leads to perfection and if you will be scared or afraid you will never succeed. the worst thing is the fear and if you get control of that then you will succeed.
