Hello Lotters In my opinion, the Presidents Zero Casualty rate in this megi/Juan storm is totally impossible. Not only just I am pessimistic and Impossible, but in the nature of Filipinos, some can be hard headed and doesn't understand the dangers of the storm. But this goal coming from Noynoy has drastically improved the Government in handling the storm crisis situation. which i think should have been done years ago, you see if the government and people worked together(local people cooperating), Nothing is impossible. Leaving only less than a hundred dead is an improvement compare to those who died by the thousands every year. this should be consistent and improved in the years ahead. What's you're opinion? Have a great day

That's plus one points for him. he was able to bring himself up after that terrible hostage drama Well, there's always bad set backs, wrong starts but pnoy is going somewhere. but i can't say that he's a good president for doing this. there are other problems that needed to address first. most importantly poverty and unemployment. Pnoys job investment is good but not enough i think. he should do more of these positive things in his administration. Lets hope and pray he will do this in the next 6 years

Hello jean25, that's true, am sure people are happy now that me make up for his cabinet mistakes. he's doing a good job for now, i dont see why we do'n't hope for another chance to make this country better. we shouldn't give up now that we have a new administration in our hands.

I agree with you. There are several other problems that our president should address and these are just a few of them. Hopefully, our government and country will be better in the coming years.

I don't think there is a significant improvement in storm crisis in our country. The reason why there is minimal casualty on typhoon Juan because of the area it affected. If typhoon Juan hits metro manila then it will the Ondoy Part 2. Our capital should improve its drainage system, efficient flood monitoring system to survive a strong storm. The kind of environment metro manila is in now only time will tell when will be the next big flood.

Hello ajosh319, well, if the people weren't cooperating, it wouldn't make any difference. ondoy didn't just hit metro manila. but i can see where you are going with this, of course, if it did then there would be casualties as well. the only thing i believed is a failure is our drainage system, there should be more tunnels than large drainage tunnel.

PAGASA system has definitely improved a lot but still there are things that need to be addressed such as gadgets to properly monitor weather condition. With the recent typhoon, I'm happy how the government handled the situation though the suspension of classes is still the same no improvement at all.

Hello katkat, I agree, but i think the school should be more educated when it comes to storm signals. like for example there is a specific grade per signal where classes should be suspened. if it falls for signal number three then, all levels including college are suspended in classes. trouble is that there are times that we have to wait for deped announcement. but all in all it's ok for now. .

Despite of the bad things that's been happening in my province when this storm came, the government were able to hold it off together. besides, like what you said if the local government units worked together with the people cooperating, then there's no such thing as impossible. the only problem is that most of the locals are hard headed thinking that it will pass or they can handle it.

Hello Mikaela, they have lack of knowledge when it comes to determining the storm. not to mention that it's not hard to notify the locals early so that they will have knowledge of strong signals and methods of evacuating.

yes, i totally agree with you,, zero casualty rate is nearly impossible to attain as there are some hard headed people who keep on ignoring some warnings and state of precautions. i am as well proud that PNoy did a great job in handling this disaster, I hope that he will continue to lead and shape up the government..

Hello Incredible DNA, they should go for the next step in solving other problems now that this had been improved, there shoiuld be consistency in terms of doing good job in our government. but the problem is consistency and it never works well if casualties are going up again. as you said, i hope as well that this will shape up the government.

I think there was an improvement compared to what we experience before. I know that it is impossible to have Zero casualty but from what I understand about it, the government are now being proactive. We should learn from what we experience before.

I think after the disastrous ondoy, our government became vigilant for any upcoming storms that will hit our nation. Ondoy was an eye opener, if ondoy did not wreck metro manila last year, our preparedness in facing such huge calamity will not improve. Everyone truly learned a lesson from the ondoy experience. I hope this improvement will continue not only in facing such calamity but in every dilemma that our country is facing.

Hello Bunnybon Lessons learned. but i think it took so many storms before my people in my government learned this lesson. some are still hard headed in going to the evacuation areas. the only election probably next 2016 will no longer be automated, which sucks, makes me don't want to vote.

If this can be implemented and can be our reality then, I'd say that it is a good improvement . :) Though, i am thinking of the more impossible one like zero casualty than having a hundred still, I can settle for this.... We have learnt our lessons re the past calamaties (or have we?) that another threat should be taken special considerations this time. We can not risk lives anymore. Though Filipinos are hard headed, we should keep on trying and striving to get through every storm, until all of us have learned the lessons. Life as it seems so difficult, will always teach us a lesson the hard way...

Hello Eureka, this should be our reality when it comes to these situations. i think if we have proper infrastructure and drainage system, we won't have casualties even of filipinos are hard headed. i hope continues for the sake of the people not to mention theyshould stop with the relentless trash throwing.

I think, after Ondoy everyone became more cautious and prepared whenever they hear that a storm is coming. Bravo to the government for helping raise the people's awareness about the typhoon! Iv'e been hearing a lot of good things about Pnoy's leadership. I can't wait to go home and experience it for myself

Hello ddaguno, well, that's for negligence and ignorance of some for underestimating the storm. i think it's still best if you stay there, there isn't much change in here yet. only few good things happen but not that much. besides, pnoy has only begun, more problems lies ahead.

I have to commend the government. They were able to accurately predicted when exactly the storm will hit. Great improvement from the previous years.

Hello romzz05, well, they can't make a mistake since that is a supertyphoon there. if they did, another would have been fired again in PAGASA. i hope they become consistent of this, more and even better forecast and life saving situations and less casualties.but it wont' be a success with out the LGU's and the people working with each other.

The coordination of the LGU and the people played big role that's why only few are casualties. We Filipinos are just hard headed by nature but then we couldn't blame people not to come to evacuation areas and suffer there. If people can see better evacuation area in the future this might change the way how we look at it.

Hello cheravs, that's true, if we are truly cooperative from the start we wouldn't have casualties that much in the past years. i think they should create a whole new building and not using the school all the time. parents and teachers have a hard time cleaning them up because of the trash that people threw there, no waste management.
