This might be an invasive question, but I'm trying to revive the Christmas section for this years up coming holiday season! How much do you spend on gifts each year? Do you have a lot of people to shop for? I'm lucky that I'm in a small, tight-knit family where I only have about 5 different family members to buy gifts for: my aunt, my cousin (perhaps.. if she's nice), my older sister, my younger half-sister, and my mom. Of course, there are small gifts like my sister's boyfriend and perhaps my mom's boyfriend that I might throw in if I have the extra money, I'll get them something small. I usually go all out with my mom and older sister's presents - and spend about $300-$450 on gifts during the season.. How about you? How much do you typically spend in total on gifts? Do you have a big group of people to shop for, or are you lucky like me?

Since I'm in a tight budget this year I think I will just spend 100-200 dollars that's about 5-10k in Philippine peso. I'm planning to scout mall sales to have a bigger discount .

Last year, I think I spent around 100 dollars for Christmas gifts. I bought gifts for my mom and sister, boyfriend, 7 of my closest friends and my cousins, nieces and nephews, and aunts. I think I saved a lot since I just bought those little trinkets sold here and there. Like for my friends, I bought a pack of lip gloss that had around 8 pieces in it. So I gave them one for each. And then with my cousins, aunts and nephews and nieces, I just "shared" with my sister to save more money. I think I spent a lot more for my immediate family and my boyfriend cause they're really the ones I'm very close to.

good day to you maezee, generally, i dont spend that much on gift. what important to me is the thought of giving. however, i am not just buying as simple as it is. that when i bought a gift, i will make sure that the gift will be useful and indispensable to the person who will receive it. we also have a small group of family. for this reason, i dont need to spend that much for the gifts that i am going to give. in addition, there are times, though it is not a season of christmas, which is the usual time of gift giving, i do give gifts whenever there is an special occasion such as birthday.

it depends on the person i am giving. if it's my bf or family members there is no limit. if it is my friend about a maximum of $50 only.

Well, it depends. I spend more on the people closest to me, such as my sister and fiancee, but less on friend's gifts, since they usually get me smaller gifts as well. I have around 10-15 people to buy for this holiday season. It is not a huge amount, but it feels like a lot to me!

Now that I'm married I definitely have more people to buy for. Truthfully thought my hubby really only buy for our close family (meaning our parents, grandparents, sisters/bros, etc.) We also love to splurge on each other during the Christmas season since the only other time of the year that we really buy gifts for each other is our birthdays. I would say we probably end up spending a total of around $1000 for Christmas gifts for everyone, including ourselves. It's once a year and totally worth it to me. I'm a very giving person. Thanks for reviving the Christmas interest! I'm ready to start thinking about the holidays!! :-)

I very rare spend on gifts. Because I am a person who gives gifts to someone very rare. Because no any incidents comes in my life for giving gifts. Many birthdays comes in my life of my every friends but no any friends of mine celebrate their birthday so I never give gifts to them but I only wishes them on phone. And sometimes when any of my friends are going to married then after marriage on reception I like to give them gifts. But this incident comes in my life only one time. When my one friend invited me on their marriage reception.

I'm surrounded by kids all the time, so again, this coming Christmas season would mean a lot of gifts going back to the kids. The line I draw is $20. Anything above that is too expensive, and anything below that is a bit suspect. Even for birthdays I use the same criteria.

I actually don't spend to much during the holidays. The last couple of years I have tried to reduce my spending because as we all know the economy is a bit tight. My family is very small and I only have a few close friends. During the holidays I tend to concentrate mostly on the kids, since it is basically for them. They are the ones that believe in Santa Clause so I try to make their dreams a reality. We normally spend about $600 to $700 dollars during the holidays. And normally what I do is I will buy gifts for my mom and my husband after the holidays when they have their after christmas sales and they do the same for me.

It actually depends on who's getting the gifts. :p I usually spend more for close family members and friends. But this year I don't think I'd be able to spend that much because I just resigned from my current work... so I'm still in that awkward financial limbo. ...but that's usually an opportunity to start being creative. ...so bring out the glue, crayons, and art paper! lol! :p
