Ugh another month of nothing. I'm doing my best with managing my money and still I can't stretch it. I quit going out to eat, I drive my car on mondays only (50 miles at the most) I plan my meals, I price check my items at Walmart, and get food stamps. I don't know what more I can do. I am getting to sick of this, sick of feeling worthless, sick of feeling like crap cause I can't afford hamburger.....oh and I quit drinking soda, its whatever juice we get from WIC and water.....President Obhama I would like to say your a butt for not giving us SSI recipients our raise this year....no increase in cost my butt! I buy 1.50 pizzas for tuesday, wednesday is salsbury steak and turkey and gravy dinners which are 2.50 a piece, thursday is hot dogs/chili dogs, fridays is tendloin, saturdays hamburgers and french fries, sundays is breakfest food, and mondays is spagetti or chicken a la king or sausage and saurkraut.....how much cheaper could I possibley get? I though in chili, soup, and tuna casserole in there too but grrrrrr I am soooooo sick of this. Oh and we had just Macaroni to eat tonight....which the kids were happy with. Anyone got any other cheap supper idea's?

Sorry you are struggling. We also live on SSDI and can't stretch it through the month. The COLA for SS guidlines was set back in the 70's, Pres. Obama has nothing to do with us not getting a COLA. Eat lot's of Ramen noodle, that is what we eat about 4 times a week. Good luck.

I have two small children and I don't think Roman noodles would be all that healthy for them at eating it that much a week. We do eat it for lunch though. Yum chicken flavored lol. Yeah its pretty cheap still. And by your president obama comment I can only assume you voted for him? I'll just say that I didn't and yes HE IS THE ONE THAT CUT SSI this year....o and F-ed our medical, and made pointless jobs like census workers, gee what happened to the census workers....they lost their pointless jobs and now are on welfare agian.....When President Obama gets booted outta the White house did you hear he's already got his job lined up? Yep he's working at Chucky Cheese's as the rat! LOL! Yeah yeah....bla bla.....all I need is for my kids bellies to be full, their bodies warm, and their hearts happy...and I'll be fine, I'll get through this.

Regardless of who I voted for the law governing COLA for SSI was passed in the 70's. Do some research of your own.

God I'm so sorry to hear about your situation but I got to tell you my family is not that far off from what your doing and we live in Canada. I don't know what has happen in the last 5 years but I have watched the hardworking get poorer and poorer every year. Not to mention the poor people that are on disablity pensions that can barley afford their rent let alone food. What is this world coming to? I spend most of the night worrying about the next day and what bill is coming in. Even with the minimum wage going up here it doesn't help because rent went up. We are all in a no win situation and the government wonders why the crime rate goes up. I got to tell you now if there was a day I could not feed my child, I would not take a second thought about robbing somewhere to do it. Gotta love life eh?

one way or another you still must be thankful. we are far in worse situation and i am here in the Philippines. I myself is still lucky. we still get to eat 3 times a day. You are lucky you still have a car, you still get to eat pizzas, steak or those you have mentioned. Some here only eat once a day, live on ready to cook instant noodles plus no proper shelter..and well we are also sick and tired of how our government is going. so many corrupt and useless government officials. one way or another we must still be thankful.

Hi Phisha, sorry to hear that. I hope the situation improves for you. Sorry to ask a silly question, what is SSI? Over here, it is nearly impossible to get government aid for anything. Our system is that when we work, a portion of our income is channeled into provident fund. However, the government does not allow us to withdraw the money when we are jobless. We need to rely on our savings. Can you imagine the frustration of having a few thousand dollars in the fund, and yet cannot touch a single cent of it?
