All of us think and act throughout the day.Even when you sit idle your mind thinks something or the other.Only during sleep we do not think.Thinking is a continuous process of the mind.It stops only when we die.So thinking is important human activity. All of us do not speak a single language. Every one speaks in a language which is different from the language of another many times.Sometimes two or more people speak the same language. My doubt is in what language we all think.Do we think in the language which we know or a language which is familiar to us.I heard that we do not think in any language but we communicate in the language we know. But when I think all thoughts come to me in my language familiar to me.Am I correct?.Please explain your view whether we we think in a particular language or there is no language for thinking faculty...?

I am bilingual since I moved to the UK 2 years ago, so it is quite recent. I would say that depending on the context I think in English or in my mother tongue. If I think of work or anything related to my life here, it will be in English, otherwise I think in my mother tongue. I even recently noticed that I have started to dream in English.

So you consider that you think in two languages. But it is said that there is no language for the thinking and only when the thought is expessed it is in some language otherwise pure thinking has no language. You think over what I have said. The brain cells have no language.....

I speak several languages fluently, and to be honest, the one I think in is the one I am using the most at the moment. So if I am speaking one language a lot with other people, my thoughts are usually in that language too, but not always.

OK. Here we concerned to know whether a human being thinks in any language.Thinking is done in the mind and it has to be conveyed to the outside world.People say the the role of language comes into play only when the thoughts are conveyed to the outer world and according to them thinking as such has no language.I am also not fully convinced. When you think and act the message is conveyed to the organ which acts. For instance when you want to go out first the thought of going out is done in the mind and it is conveyed to legs which moves. Here what is the language used.None.Therefore they say thinking as such has no language...

What you say is convincing no doubt. But thinking is a faculty bestowed on every human being.Thinking is done in the mind. But it does not stop there.it has to be conveyed out side. There the role of language comes into play and not before say many. i am also not fully convinced. Some nerosurgeon may be to say what it actually means...
