People do change for the reasons you have mentioned Karunvig. Although, being hurt is a way more intense motivator than having learned and change. May i also add that LOVE inspires change?
actually, love and hurt are very good motivators for changes..they motivate people to do the most difficult of deeds.

Well, I am the second, but I am not making a complete change, I am making a change for my survival. I change because I have to, but not because I want to. Truth be told, if I could show people who I really am, they might now like what they see.

I can think of a couple more than the two you mentioned and one that comes to mind is no choice but to change. Although we may not enjoy the changes sometimes it is what is best to do as circumstances sometimes force you to make a change.

Both reasons are right. I will just add another reason. People change because the had fallen out of love. And it's the saddest but realistic part of a relationship. You changed and the other person also changed because of you.
