my baby is 5 months old now, and i want to have her ears pierce for an earrings but my husband said it is still too early, she's still too young for it. though i have my elder daughter ears pierced when she was only 6 months old. my mother in law gave our baby a pair of earrings already so i want her to use it. how about you, what was the age of your baby when they have their ear pierced for an earrings? don't you think 5 months is still too early for a baby to have her ears pierced?

I know I'm old fashioned, but I don't believe in piercing a baby's ears at all. It doesn't seem right for a parent to do something like that to a baby when it involves pain and possible infection. When a child is old enough to make that decision on her own, then it can be done... as long as she's responsible enough to care for them on her own and realizes that there can be pain involved.

I'm Chinese, but I've never heard of that culture.
There are earrings with clips instead of needles, why not use them? In my opinion, (I'm a male) puncturing yourself is crazy. I've seen countless people with deformed ears because of terrible accidents with earrings.

I don't like seeing baby's ears being pierced. I think it is stupid and insane! Let you baby grow up! Then when she asks to get her ears pierced then do it! I will never understand why a parent do this to a baby! It is not right! Let a baby be a baby!

Hi,
I don't have a daughter,so I really have no idea what is the
best age to have an ear piercing, but I do believe it is
best to get it done when small,at least baby skin is more
softer and not easy to get infection.
I did mine when I was 17 years old..too old to do it.But I have
to do it because I saw lot of nice earrings and I want to
put it on.
Since your husband decided to do it later, then maybe you can wait till
your daughter is 10 months old, then get it done.
Or simply get an advice from your mother in law.

It's not too early being 5 months old. In some countries kids have their ears pierced short after being born, when they're just a few days old. It heals normally in all of the cases that I know, so you shouln't need to worry even now.
It's just holes in the skin after all, and kids heal quicker than adults, so it's the best age to get pierced

My daughter is 3 years old and does not have her ears pierced. It is a decision that I think she should make as they are her ears. I used to do ear piercing and I hated doing babies ears. They don't know whats coming and it hurts. Also is sometimes hard to line them up right as the ears are still so small. I also repierced several girls ears that had them done as a baby and not they were not in the right spot as your ears grow and change. It is hard to do both ears at the same time on a baby as again baby is small and ears are small. It can be done but is harder. I would say wait till she is older and wants them pierced. I think 5 months is way to early but that is just me.

I dont think that its right to pierce a little babys ears. I think they should be old enough to understand that it will hurt and want to get it done anyway. My daughter is 6 and I havent gotten her ears pierced. I have a lot of trouble when I was 5 and got my ears pierced. They were always getting infected.

Hi churchill,
In our place many parents are doing the ear piercing for female kids at the age of 5 months. Some are doing earlier than this (at the time of naming ceremony on 27th Day). My brother’s daughter’s ear pierced at the age of 5 months. However some parents may wait upto the age of one year and the reason is they are thinking the same way your hubby thinks. If you ask my personal opinion, I will say do it after the age of one. Your angel is too small….

Actually, my daughter was only about two months old when I let her get her ears pierced. I was shopping at the mall with a friend of mine and on a whim I decided that I wanted to have Kathryn's ears pierced. I went to the piercing center and they told me that they will only pierce a child's ears after they'd had their first round of vaccinations, since Kathryn had already had that done I went ahead and had her ears pierced that day. She will be eight years old next month and she's never had a problem out of her pierced ears.

I agree with your husband. 5 months old is too early. Why don't you wait for your baby is 1 years old?

My daughter was 6 months old when she had her ears pierced. Just be sure the one who does the piercing is an expert if you decide to do it.
