A few months back, the world sympathized over Baby George, the newborn infant found abandoned in an airplane trash can. The mother of Baby George was finally identified and found. According to the mother, she was raped by an employer overseas. She feared facing her husband and her family with a baby borne out of that unfortunate incident, so she just decided to abandon it on the airplane's trash bin. There are speculations that she might have delivered the baby secretly inside the airplane's lavatory. After a few months of counselling and discussions, Baby George will be reunited with his birth mother. Are you in favor of this reunion and awarding of the custody to the birth mother?

This is such a shame! How can a mother do this to her child. An infant is helpless. A baby needs to have love and care and support. A baby is not a toy we can throw away when we can't cope. So many women can't have children and would do anything to have one. then we have mothers who dispose of children like unwanted trash. This is senseless and should not be tolerated!

It's really a pity and I can just shake my head how some mothers could have the hardest of hearts to give up their babies in such a inhumane manner.

This is really a sad situation. But thank God for people who willingly take care and adopt abandoned babies.

I think that lady was upset to be attacked and then conceive a baby. It wasn't a pregnancy that she planned. Many ladies in that awful situation would have an abortion. Some ladies would have the baby and then have him or her adopted. I believe that is the right choice for the lady, her baby and the adopting couple. I believe that it was very bad of the lady to throw her baby in a trash bin on a plane. It is wonderful that she had discussions with professionals and got her head sorted out. I hope that now that the lady is going to be a loving parent to Baby George now she is a better person.

hello hippiemomdiaries!
i think baby George should only be reunited with his birth mother after psychological and emotional evaluation of the mother, which would prove that she has been telling the truth of her alleged rape and ordeal and her current emotional and psychological state.
it would be disastrous should the mother proved to be unfit to care for the baby, considering the way she abandoned her child on a trash bin! no sane mother, however hopeless her situation is, would leave a helpless baby on a trash bin!

I agree with the above comment in that the baby should not be returned without a thorough investigation. If she was raped, they how could she be so afraid of her husband's reaction that she would panic and throw a baby in the garbage? Is he that abusive? In which case it would not be a healthy home for a baby. Or is she lying and the baby was a result of an affair, in which case she was not mature enough to own up to her mistakes and take care of her child?
Going through an unassisted labour and delivery in an airplane bathroom would make most people go into severe shock. It is likely that between the pain, shock, and hormones she had very little idea of the consequences of what she did, or of how much she would regret it later. If it is found that that is the case and she would be a fit mother, then she deserves another chance.

I just hope and pray that the family would give the love that this baby deserves. But I hope the social service should still do constant monitoring that the baby is well taken cared of.

Yes.i am i believe the mother is just very confused and dont know what to do and because of that she can think right but after she was found and confessed everything that is the time her connection to the child can not be denied. There is no mother who can abandon her child but father yes many of them like my kids fathers very irresponsible.

Problems could really sometimes make us confused and do things we will regret later on.
