Yes,I encourage my child to read, or rather teach her cause she's still in kindergarten. I want to help her learn to read so that it would be easier when she enters primary.

Of course, although my sons 4 and my daughters 2. Neither of them can read but my son can tell what words say, he's also started to learn to spell properly which is very exciting. I also enjoy reading to them.

Of course I will encourage my child to read because reading is a good habit. It is not only entertaining, but also learning from it. I often buy books for my child. Besides, sometimes we will go to the library to borrow books. And sometimes we will read the books together. I want to be a good example for my child. I love China

Most definitely. I began reading and telling stories to my daughter when she was just 3 days old, and she began the most basic reading when she was 2. I buy and pick up any new/used books, magazines, newspapers... Anything. She'll read just about whatever I sit down in front of her. :)

My children are adults now but I encouraged them to read since they were very tiny. I bought them may different kinds of books from stories to poetry to puzzles. Apparently it worked because they have become avid readers. In fact they often recommend books to me now and we share what we often learn form books.

Hi laken02, awaring that reading plays an important role for kids. As I know it's too difficult for a young toddler to read. I then give them children books with colorful and conspicuous pictures. It's so joyous to see my kids to browse books with few pages only repeatingly with great pleasure. They are taught to recognize and understand the big words occurring on each page. as a mom we know all those children stories or fairy tales very well right. And of course they have great interest listening to all those fantastic tales based on every picture right in front of them. Children like reading books with more picture and feel reluctant to read books with more words. They don't know they could learn more interesting stories by reading the content on each page. To arouse their interest to read themselves I tell them the story detailedly and to let them to understand that how essential it's to read by words instead of pictures. My son, nephews and nieces have found the great interest in reading books after they are in primary. They learn a lot by reading, that they could hardly learn from their school textbooks. They don't feel monotonous and make noise as well as long as there are books with them. Other than purchasing books from book stores I borrow books from library too. I couldn't afford to buy books as they finish reading books in so a rapid pace.... Happy posting

I consider myself as a bookworm (someone who loves reading) and though I may not have as much time to read as I do before, I still try to make it a point to read a book. I want my kids to see the importance of reading too. I don't want them to get addicted to video games or televisions. I want them to use their imaginations and creativity and reading books is a good way to encourage creative thinking. I always try to read to my youngest before he sleeps. He is not that good with reading yet but he loves picture books. I am encouraging him to keep practicing reading so that he will be able to read on his own soon

Reading is really good for our kids, they will learn a lot of things from it. I always asks my kids to read their books and other story books at home. But my sons are not fond of reading, they prefer to play games in computer rather than reading books.
