We're going camping!! AND for 7 days! FINALLY!! Some time away from home and all the chaos that goes on! What a blessing in disguise! I will have access to a computer so I'll be able to keep in touch with all of you as well as doing some of the projects that I love doing such as cross stitching and maybe some beading or maybe read a good book. Anything that has to do with RELAXING!! YEAH!! Now to tell you, we went to my parents house yesterday to paint their porch railings out front and out back but the gloomy sky's wouldn't let up or let the sun out so with the dew still around, we couldn't paint. We waited till about 2 in the afternoon and well, it just wasn't going to work out and today it's rained all day long so just as well we didn't paint. So instead, we're going camping. We'll paint those railings some time next week once they all dry out. Do you like to camp? Or have you ever gone camping? Do you use a tent or a camper? What about painting? Have you done any of that lately?

sorry to say i dont much like it unless i have a laptop and a fully supplied camper. when i was real young i liked it, but then in my 20's i married a guy that made me go sometimes. would beat my butt if i didnt get in the car. and it was just tents.... since then ive only went once and enjoyed it because my kids took me in my rv and i could play on the laptop while they cooked some yummy food on the grill at the site

Are you for real? Did your husband beat you? I sincerely hope you're kidding. Being a victim of horrible violence myself, I hate to hear that someone else had been through such horror. In any case, if I was made to do something that I did'nt want to do, I'd turn against it too. Bless your heart! As for our camper, it does have all the amenities! We wouldn't have bought it without them! lol

Can I go with you, Puullleeaaasseee??? LOL...I love to go camping, except if I were to go now, where I love I would insist on a camper with a heater. During the summer we use to go camping using a tent, but we are looking into pop up campers and might get one. If so then I can go camping and not worry about the rain...:)

LOL Come on! Let's go! We're at Lake Reidsville.... lol Oh man.... What a good time we'd have! Memories in the making. It's been quite a while since hubby and I've been because of moving from one state to another due to hubby retiring from the army. Back then we had a old RV which we sold before moving because we didn't think it would make it over the smoky or blue ridge mountains. Now we have a camper.... a pull along which is nice because now we have a vehicle to drive when camping.

We go camping all the time. In fact, the campground just closed last week. We love it. It may not be out in the woods, but it gets my son out and about. We have camped there for 9 years, so alot of them know him really well. He feels like he fits right in. I hope you get to relax and get some needed down time. Have a great time!

That's a wonderful idea to do with your son! But a shame that the camp ground closes at a certain time of the year though. Some people like to camp in the fall and winter too. Not me though. I don't like the cold. lol Even if I'm inside the camper, I still don't like the cold outside. I'd rather be in the comfort of my home. lol Yeah, I'm getting my much needed down time! Especially now since hubby went home to get a few things and then going to the store. lol Shhhhh! I didn't say that!!

Hi Jo! Oh we're having a GREAT time! AND about time too! I mean, we bought this camper early spring and haven't been able to use it yet. I've camped in the smokey, blue ridge and rocky mountains when I was just a kid. I remember a lot of things but not as much as my brothers because they were older. I was about five or six then. You see, my dad is from Idaho and we drove out there from Virginia a couple of times and it was so much fun! We had one of those campers that goes on the back of the truck. My brothers and I would be in the camper top watching as we went down the road. The funny thing is, I'd have to go to the bathroom a lot because I was born with a small bladder and my brothers would get on the intercom and tell my parents "Mary Beth has to go to the bathroom Agaaaaain." We all laugh about that now but it was so aggravating to all of them having to stop all the time but my parents didn't make it known though but my brothers did. And then there was this time where we stopped along the way, I believe it was the red woods but I'm not sure and there was a momma bear and three little bear cubs doing their thing at the side of the road. When it was time for momma bear to leave, she called to her cubs and two went straight to her but the one wouldn't come so she called him and called him but he wouldn't listen then she came down off the hill and swatted the cub on his rear end and he let out a yelp! and he flew up the hill to the other cubs! We all laughed and laughed over that! Momma bear swatting her cub on his rear end!! lol Well, that was eons ago too but we won't go there now, will we? Hugs to you!

I never had a big brother but always wished for one. U just concentrate on having fun & enjoying yourself. hugs.

MB, I am still in shock!! I am sooooooo happy for you I could cry. I have never ever known anyone who deserves a vacation more than you!! I just wish (selfishly) that I was going with you in our own RV. What a time we would have!!! I think camping (in an RV type camper of course) is my favorite type of vacationing. You can actually breathe in relaxation. You won't want to come home, except to see the babies. Any of them going with you? If I could still dance, I'd be dancing all over the place for you. Have the time of your life and keep in touch. Love Ya, Leenie

We're at the campground and enjoying every minute of it! lol Right now we're watching a movie with Miley Cyrus in it called "The Last Song" and it's really good. lol Wish you could join us too sweetie. Who knows? Maybe one day we'll get to do something like this together. I'd like to think so anyways. As for my babies, yes of course I have a few with me! The three little dogs and my siamese kitten. lol Love ya too sweetie@

That is so excellent. I hope you have a wonderful time. I've gone camping three times in my life, and all three times it rained when nighttime came. Twice I went with my church youth group. And let me tell you, when a tent fails to keep out the rain, it is very hard to sleep 20 kids in a 15 passenger van.

In my younger years, I went camping with a friend of mine and her family and we slept in different tents, my friend and I in one and her parents in another. The tent was so small that we could barely sit up but it was a lot of fun. They taught me how to make smores. lol Thank God it didn't rain on us or I don't think we'd have stayed. I can't imagine having 20 kids in a van sleeping..... They must've been piled up on each other.

hi catsanddogs I love to go camping provided we have a cabin to sleep in as bugs and spiders and roots under your bedroll are not fun for me. And I must be near a stream with fish poles and bait. angle worms are best for catching trout. We have been having hard rain all week so far and we are in Southern Ca where it usually does not rain. lol. I miss not getting to paint or cook or almost anything else in this tiresome retirement center. I am so hoping the rains are over for awhile. have fun cats and come back all refreshed. goodluck and God Bless.,

Hatley, if I could, I would take you away from there for a few days so you could get a break too but as you know, I can't since I'm on the other coast. I'm going to pray on your behalf in hopes that you'll soon be out of there and that your son is able to get a place for the two of you which is what you deserve. No one should be unhappy especially in their retirement years especially one who's been nothing but kind to everyone. May God Bless You Sweetie!!

Good on you cats! I haven’t been camping in years. I would love to go again actually because my daughter has never been and I think she would love it. I must have a chat to my husband about that...Seven days of relaxation sounds like just what you need my friend. Don’t worry about cleaning houses or painting railings, just enjoy the break and have a good time. The last time I painted railings I gave myself a migraine from the paint fumes; I felt so ill but the railings looked good!

Hi Paula! I certainly hope you and your family get to go before winter hits us or you'll have to wait til Spring. You know, I can't believe Fall is here. I mean, summer is over?!? Where did the time go? I've found that the older I get, the faster it goes on by us. Anyway, we are having a wonderful time. It stopped raining last night and the sun showed itself all day long with a really nice breeze. Hopefully tomorrow will be the same. Take care my friend.....

Hello cats, both sound great to me...we love both camping and painting. We are actually doing some painting this weekend. We are going to be repainting the kids bedroom..the daughter is wanting purple and the son is wanting blue so we are going to change the colors for them. When we first moved into this house we had to paint the whole place because of the dirt and also because we hated to colors. As for camping we go every summer although the past few summers we have not been able to go as much as we like we have still been able to get atleast one or tow camping trips in. We always used to throw up tents and do a weekend trip but the last two years we have decided to make a family tradition and rent a non electric cabin for the weekend and just spend the weekend away and enjoying the peace quiet and the nature...I love just being palin with my family no phone internet or tv it gets them to use their imaginations so much more...

I can't believe that I typed up a long response and lost it. ARG!! Wish ff worked on here with my phone. Maybe it does but I'm not sure if it would or not. Anyway, you're painting this weekend, eh? That's not one of my favorite past times but I'll do it if it needs doing. I've painted my whole house myself when we first bought it and have repainted a few rooms since then because it needed it. Hubby has helped me repaint but he was in the army in Arkansas getting ready to retire when we bought our house so I lived in it for six months before he did and painted it all myself. He says I'm the painter because I can cut it in so well at the ceiling and baseboards. He could too if he took his time at it. About camping, I like having the internet and phone because I can't go outside due to having lupus so I'm basically stuck inside. As for phones, with my parents health being what it is, I have to have a phone just in case something goes wrong and they need me. I'm the only family member nearby, the rest are at least four and five hours away. However, I do have a book to read. cross stitching and bead making to do if I want so I'll never be bored. lol Happy Painting!

Awwww quita, you didn't put a damper on my camping trip. Not at all. It stopped raining last night and today has been really beautiful with sunny skies and a nice breeze going on. We needed the rain even though it came at a bad time but that's ok too, we'll get those railing painted when we can.

Oh wow, I'm so jealous with you. I'm so busy with work at the moment and I can't even think of having fun I love camping of course, and I always use tent hehe. One of the craziest camping I've done in my life was in the middle on winter at the north of Scotland Burrrrrrr.....cold like hell! As for painting, hmmm the last one I did was 6 years ago and it was sunny yay! We were painting a kindergarten somewhere in Borneo. But I painted myself so well as well that no one could recognize me after 5 hours of painting activity Enjoy yourself with the camping and hope it is not going to keep raining. Good luck and have a nice day!

That's what I call EXTREME camping! In the middle of winter? OMGosh! lol I couldn't do that. I'm not fond of the cold. Brrrrr! lol It Sid stop raining last night and today was beautiful. The sun came out and we had a nice breeze. Supposedly tomorrow is to be the same way. So far we're having a wonderful time.

Personally I am not to much of an outside person, I have never been camping and to be perfectly honest with you I don't think I could do, I would be terrified of being out in the woods at night. The feeling just creeps me out. My husband on the other would like to go, but I don't think I'll ever have the courage of doing. I have heard its relaxing being out in the woods, but it's just not for me. As for painting, I have painted before on two or three occassions, when we first moved to our house, but I haven't done any type of painting lately.

Actually we're not in the woods woods but in a campground which is much safer because there's a bunch of other campers around. Most of us are in campers which I won't have it any other way because I like to be warm when it's cold or cool when it's hot. lol The outdoors isn't for everybody so don't feel bad. You like what you like and that's ok. It's what makes you you. Being different is what makes our world go around. BTW..... Welcome to mylot!!!!!!

Oh I wouldn't camp without a camper either. I like air conditioning too much to go without. lol Not to mention, a comfortable bed to sleep in. We'll be painting next week providing the weather holds up but the way it looks, it's supposed to rain on Tuesday so we'll have to see.
