I am really confused here. I know that the rankings dont have any effect on our earnings but its still interesting to see how well our comments and discussions are liked on mylot. Now to the right of our name in the categories we are interested in it was say a number out of another number in that category such as right now I have 609 out of 17,776 in relationships. Is the first number supposed to go up or down if we are doing better? For example about a week ago my ranking was 727 out of 17,736 in relationships. Does that mean since my number dropped to 609 from 727 that I am doing better or worse?

I might be wrong but my thinking with the ranking you asking about and here is how I see it. If you are 1 of 6000, then that would mean you are in the 1st place out of 6000. If you are 5999 out of 6000 that would mean you are almost in the last place. That ranking only applies to your interests that you opt to add to your interests categories and applies to how many times you have posted towards that interest. **Disclaimer - cannot hold me to any of it - Merely my observations **

Yes you and another myloter showed me the faq where it says that. I really never thought the rating in the star meant anything. I am so glad I am at 10 then because I do not want my star number to drop and earn less. I would be less motivated on mylot if I earned less money.

Wanted to add that the ratings 9 or 10 do factor towards your earning as this is what the guidelines says The DRS is factored into our proprietary earnings algorithm, so this will help us properly reward valuable contributions to the myLot community. It is listed here: http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq17.aspx

It is based on participation. The more you post in a certain category, the higher your ranking. If your number goes down it simply means people are posting more in that category. Your star number is the one effected by people voting you a + or - in discussions & comments. To the best of my knowledge neither number affects earnings.

No neither number has any effect on how much you earn. How much you earn depends on how many comments you post or discussions you start or pictures you add to your discussions or comments. But I am just curious about the ranking as I just started noticing it recently and wondered about how it all works.

Hair_of_the_Dog, I stand corrected :) http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq17.aspx The rankings are just based on your participation, but the higher you're ranked the more you earn!

Don't know much about rankings too. But I went into this discussion to learn myself. The very first respones, the one from Hair of the Dog, was very informative for me. I didn't know about the hovering. It's great that you asked these questions.

well you only have a 7 as your start rating. Thats not good :( I have a 10 and I am so glad because people have been telling me if your star rating goes lower you earn less. I have given you lots of positive ratings so I wish your star rating would go up more! I am doing ok. Tonight my heads killing me.
