Much of new music - new songs, singles, artists, song leaks--now emanate from the internet. How do you discover new music? What sites do you go to? Where can you hear the music or watch the video or at least get news that this new artist has got good stuff going or this really big artist has leaks to his/her new songs on the internet?

Well I don't really watch music videos or stay up to date with music news or whatever but my favorite way to discover new music, or just groups that I have never given a chance to listen to is Pandora. It is honestly one of my favorite things to come from the web. You just put in some songs or artists that you like and then it starts playing music by those artists but it also adds in other music that you may like based on the musicians or songs you put in. Not always breaking new artists but I almost always hear a song I like that I never knew existed or never really had a chance to listen to.

Pandora is like a playlist builder and an online radio, right? This is really a good way to discover and listen to music because you can customize the songs according to your preference. Unlike listening to traditional radio, you have no control or choice over the songs being played. Technology has really come a long way. Websites such as this give us the power to choose. I think that's a great way to discover music.

I've discovered many new bands because of friends mentioning them and then going on the internet and checking them out (be it their official site, since usually you can listen to samples of songs, or on Youtube, for example). Other than that, Youtube and Last.fm are what I often use. Last.fm recommends bands that you may like depending on which music you already listen to; I think that's really nice :)

I never search music from the internet. I look for new musics from my music channel (V channel or MTV). When I find a good one, I'll surf 4shared for the music file, then download it. I like 4shared because it is easy to download there and no pop-ups

Music video channels have been really very powerful over the years in allowing us to discover new talents. It's interesting to know that you still support these channels and prefer them over youtube.

I discover new music the old fashioned way... through print. :p I'm subscribed to a few music magazines and most of the new stuff I discover, I read about from reviews off of those magazines. :) On the net I usually find out about new music through referrals from my favorite artist's official websites or YouTube channels. :) I'm also a member of a couple of music forums on the net (mostly bass forums) ...sometimes I discover new artists from discussions there. :)

This is interesting. Your sources are the traditional method which is print and online at the same time. As I commented earlier in the post prior to yours, we now have choices. I think that's the good thing that technology gives us.

Yup. I've actually tried pandora, last.fm, etc :) I even listen to internet radio once in a while. But my musical taste is a bit, well... you may call it eccentric. hehehe Definitely not mainstream. So I really need to research the old fashioned way to really get what I want. I listen to pop and rock too though so whenever I want that that's when I use the sites I mentioned earlier. :)
