This ad is in support of a ballot initiative in Colorado, Amendment 62, which will outlaw abortion under ANY circumstance as well as stem cell research and some forms of birth control. It depicts President Obama as the "Angel of Death" and you can see it from the link below:

There have been many political ads this year that have crossed the line and this is one of the worst. What do you think?

Now I am against embryonic stem cell research but in favor of adult stem cell research. I am also for saving a mother's life, that is if the fertilized egg is in the fallopian tubes, then it should be removed or the mother would die. As for rape and incest, that is punishing the baby for the horrible act of the father. And for the rape deal, the sons we adopted were a product of rape and of course, with the lack of babies for adoption, if all those babies conceived by rape and they are not that many, there would have been more childless couples. Not all of us can afford to travel to other countries and get babies overseas and not all of us are able to take a child who is so handicapped that he will only be with us a short time because he will eventually die of his condition.
I do think that perhaps that Amendment 62 may have said that it is all right to abort the baby if the baby is in the fallopian tubes and the mother will definitely die.
I do think that there are forms of birth control that are all right and it does not cross the line. It does go a little too far because of the infant in the fallopian tube that if allowed to live would kill the mother
But one has to ask is it because you are angry about this last fact or is it because of a feeling that the woman is more important then the baby. I hope you value both and your feeling is that the woman should not die, not that the baby should die.

I'm not sure that Amendment 62 does make the exception for the mother's life being in danger. I'd like to say once again that I'm absolutely opposed to late term abortion except in cases of the woman's life or health being in danger or if the baby will not ever be able to live any semblance of a life outside the womb. I've seen cases where the baby was born with horrible deformities and handicaps and couldn't function at all and felt nothing but pain and suffering.
Of course I value both lives but you and I have a differing view on many aspects of this issue, which wasn't what I wanted to discuss at this time. One more thing - there is no excuse for there being any childless couples unless they're childless by choice. The foster care system is full of children that can't be placed and would love to have a stable, loving home but nobody wants them because they're no longer newborns.

I remember the times before roe vs. wade . I don't see anything good coming from outlawing abortion. Education and availability of birth control has caused the abortion rate to go down over the years. I know how I personally feel about abortion when it pertains to my own life but I think...no, I KNOW it would be presumptuous of me to make that same decision for another woman. Making abortion illegal is not going to stop abortion anyway. All it will accomplish is going back to the 50's and 60's where abortions were done illegally and dangerously. We made progress with roe vs wade and now we want to go backwards? I'm 54 and I've been listening to this issue for a good part of my life. It's pretty sad that it is still such a hot topic.

You're a few years younger than me so I have much the same memories as you do about this issue. I agree with you totally in that I know what I would personally do, which is I can't imagine myself having an abortion, but I have no right to make that decision for a complete stranger. Also, I've never been in the type of situation many women or young girls find themselves in so how can I say for sure how I'd feel?

This is why women, and especially those in our age range, need to keep speaking out...because we know how it used to be before abortion was legal and regulated. I personally could not have an abortion but I strongly believe that any woman who chooses to has the RIGHT to a safe procedure, performed by a trained professional in a safe and sanitary facility. No one has the right to dictate the personal decisions of anyone else in this area.

Well being that Annie describes herself as a progressive so I think it is safe to assume that she has no problem with Ed Schultz being of the same political view point. Let me guess you listen to Glenn "Mr. Progressive hunter" Beck and you think that all progressives are bogeymen in the closet, right?

Liverals got tired of being demonized and started calling themselves progressive.
As a life long conservative I do not understand why liberals are ashamed and let the crazy's hijack their name or label. It is obviuos that we need some progressive ideas in this country and some of them are very good ideas.
