I'm Blaming the Blue Bunny - Yes I am!

So there I was, totally focussed on responding to a post by the blue bunny last night. so engrossed and focussed as I wanted it to be light hearted, amusing, provocative and above all entertaining. My response was funny as I wanted to cheer up a mylot friend.
Did I mention that I was engrossed? Yes and look where it led me? Right up the creek and not a paddle in sight.
I looked down just by chance and there was the biggest centipede that I have ever seen. At least a foot long and and so wide and all the those little legs scurrying towards me. I was terrified and grabbed a book from my coffee table (and this was difficult as my feet were not on the ground) and dropped it on the monster!
Not a son in sight so BB'd the one in important meeting after crying to the daughter and waking up the son in the U.K. (Mother - what on earth can I do about it out here?)
BB'd son bb'd me back asking if it was dead. I told him that it hadn't emerged from the heavy book so maybe it was. He said that he really could not leave this meeting as preparations had to be made for people as more bad weather that is expected so I should drink a rum and go to bed. So that is what I did. It did help me sleep but I kept thinking that it was the leader of giant centipedes that had invaded the Island. My heart ws racing!
Son bb'd me again and said meeting was going on late and that he would get rid of the alien when he came home.
If I hadn't been concentrating so hard on my response I would have seen it creeping up on me. can someone put that bunny back in her cage?
I once was bitten by a centipede in bed. Mother was right. You should be very careful with whom you sleep.
Now the power company has turned up to install new light posts so we will be without power for hours.
Have to be quick. Have you ever been scared by a creepy crawly?

Let's here it for big coffee table books! Glad you got him on the first try. But I wanted to read the post "light hearted, amusing, provocative and above all entertaining. My response was funny as I wanted to cheer up a mylot friend. "
Guess that is a moment lost in time.

I love nature, so I'm more curious and intrigued by "creepy crawlers", but do take caution when it comes to the "unknown" ones, especially spiders. When I read your little story, all that crossed my mind was the "humor". You actually converted the scary centipede into a "bookworm"... LOL

I have never been scared by anything as large as the centipede, and no scorpions either. Giant waterbugs, which are a form of cockroach. Also some flying ones. I do get intrigued and obsessed by discussions and stay on here much longer than I should.

Ugh! I didn’t know centipedes could bite! I have never come across one and I hope I never do! I hate those furry thing, I’m not sure what they’re called, they look like slugs with harm they’re disgusting. If one finds I run the other way because I cannot even bring myself to kill it! I am sure the Blue Bunny is very sorry...

Oh! Oh ! Poor Centi. You murdered it! You murdered it!
Well, the first time I read it, I was busy calculating if a centipede is a foot long how many centimeters would that have to be.
Oh, yes and most importantly the centipede was just the smallest and cutest of them- the aliens I mean. It just wanted to say Hi to you and probably give you new insights of how could you make your mylot response even better and more humorous, And what did you do? You dropped the mountain on him. I am mourning for the centy now.
P.S. I don't know how this might sound but I can't resist saying this as my giggles won't stop. When your mom said to be careful about with whom you sleep. Centipedes wouldn't have crossed her mind in zillions of years to come.

Yep - I killed it and will have to live with that. It was so close it could have run up my leg! How awful would that have been?
Seriously, it was a foot long - my son agreed when he arranged the burial. He too thought that I was exaggerating.
You are the first to have found the humour in that remarkLoved your response. Blessings

Hello, Cynthiann. I blame the blue bunny for a lot of things as well - it's easier that way. Was it really a foot long, or did you exaggerate just a teensy bit? Not that I'd blame you.
We saw a Mediterranean scorpion on our terrace wall one evening last year. I scuttled to safety, but my husband got a knife and cut it in half. It fell to the floor, and both ends twiched for a while. That was creepy, and thankfully, we've never seen another one.

Thank you my daring but I am serious and another one went into my bathroom a short while ago so it was slammed with a book too! Dear God, I ask myself, what next?

My left thigh was swollen and hurt. I think that it was a centipede as the doctor said so - but she had just come from Australia so maybe she was wrong. But I was so scared.

Your centipede was trying to do you a favor by eating other little beasts that are living in your house. Yes, they are all poisonous, but not to the point of killing a person (unless, by some odd chance, the person is allergic to their venom).
But when you kill one in your house, you may be making another problem worse because you've taken away the predator, that may be eating roaches, termites, and other insects.
Sorry this big guy scared you, but next time, put him in a large container and release him in your yard to continue his vigilance in ridding your home of other invaders. If you aren't brave enough for that, put a heavy container, open side down over him until help arrives.

I am not brave enough to do that. I do understand where you are coming from but some years ago when we lived in the farm I was bitten badly and had a terrible allergic reaction.,My thigh was swollen t my knee and tender to touch. It hurt so badly and I was on antibiotics and antihistamines etc. No - I do not want to save any that may come in to my home

I am not a big fan of thing that have lots of legs!! I don't completely free out when I see a spider, but I do quickly give it a great big squash with my shoe. My oldest son screams like a school girl when he sees a spider. His younger brother and sister will grab and spider and toss it in his direction just to hear him scream and run about like a little girl! My son is over 6 feet tall and probably 190 pounds. To look at him you would think he is a big tough guy...but we know better when it comes to spiders.....LOL

Whispers gently in blue bunny's ear: Life is not fair little blue bunny.
I was engrossed in my response to you - which was quite brilliant by the way. And if I could remember it then would respond again but the fear put it all out of my mind.
Okay- I'm sorry for blaming you but if I didn't look down it would have crawled up my leg!!!! How gross is that?
Take it as a compliment - pretty please?

I so appreciate your powers and this is why I am scared. You are not going to believe this but about 10 minutes ago Dropped a book on another litte bu**er. This one about 10" long and it went in to my bathroom. So I dropped another book on it. have given away over 3o00 books and have another 100 or more in car boot to give to Church members but I still have hundreds more that are important to me so books are the nearest things on hand to grab and attack these aliens. Seriously I am shaken.Had a small rum but am still shaking. Maybe another small rum?

Hello there cynthiann,
Well, It's better that way since there's a lot of them already, talked about Centi population control. i guess dropping a book isn't so bad. normally i would spray on them with flames. by the way, that was a bit small, you're lucky that centipedes aren't as big as the ones in the King Kong Movies.
not a referrral link.

yeah, my mom hates them too.

You mean that they can come bigger? There was another one last night about ten inches in length and the nearest book went on that one too. I'm arranging for the place to be sprayed by pest control. I am seriously scared of them. Millions of legs scurrying along. All heading to me
I have not yet plucked up courage to look at your link. But I will when I feel a bit stronger

The sad thing is that the second book I used was not so heavy and so the little nasty crawled out and escaped. But my son did not tell me that until after the place was sprayed!

Turned the lights on and could hear the gecko's like screaming.....scared the bee geevers out of me...so I went immediately back to bed and waited until morning when I sun came up to go to the biffy....good thing I didn't wet my britches!

Iwould either have wet them or found a receptacle to use as a replacement. Would not have been able to hold it that long

Anything creepy crawly scares me! I remember our old place where there were lots of roaches. One literally flew from the outside through our window! My roommate and I had a screaming frenzy I think we woke all the neighbors up!
