Do you have a steam mop? Do you like it?

I recently decided that I absolutely had to have a steam mop after listening to my MIL rave about hers. She said it was great on the laminate and she used it all the time, she was really impressed with the thing. I liked the idea of only using water to clean the floors and pretty soon every square foot of floor upstairs will be either tile or laminate so I thought I would get good use out of it. But now that I finally have one my mother in law just mentioned that she thinks her steam mop is wrecking her laminate!
Do you have, or have your ever had, a steam mop? Did you use it on laminate floors? Did you like it or lump it?
I've read very mixed reviews on them and I'm not too sure what to think. Some say that they're fine on laminate floors because the moisture doesn't stay on the surface. Others say that the steam penetrates into the groves and warps it. Both theories make sense to me. Even if I can't use it on the laminate I've still got tile and lino. And at some point in the future the whole basement will also be tile so I'll still use it. It would just be a little disappointing if I can't use it on the laminate; but of course I don't want to destroy a brand new floor!
So, what can you tell me about steam mops??

I've always just mixed vinegar and Windex together, sprayed the floors and then go over them with a microfiber mop. It works great, leaves them shiny and without streaks, and it's super easy. I just let myself get caught up in the hype when it comes to new gadgets.

hi jessp no I hate the whole idea as steam penetrates the cells in anything even tile. Just a damp mop is good enough for me when
I had an apartment to worry about mopping the floor. Some gadgets
are not nearly as great as the balleyhoo makes them out
to be.
