People who believe we are created in the image of god, I have some things to ask you. What do you think is the idea is behind god creating you with his/her image? Why did he/she had to make us in his image? If you were god, what is the point of making humans? What is god thinking? Share your thoughts I'm curious.

We are created in God's image isn't talking about our physical bodies. We are all spiritual beings in our true natures just like God. The reason for being created in God's image is because that is the only way to be eternal. Why make humans?? This physical world exists to aid in the education of God's children. Cause and effect along with the fact that at any given point in time, we are at a specific place. Outside the physical, it's not that way. So why did God make all these children??? God doesn't need children. If you ever have had children, you know the answer. God knows just like us that even though we don't need children that children make life Grand!!!

Why would you want something else(man) if you are already perfect?

Ahhh...People only participate in conversations about god, love , realtionshipan alike.. It leaves me nothing else argue with you guys , which ussualy is impossible because people like you sometimes tend not to understand others ;)
OK here I go about GOD :When I was like in 5th grade I thought about this. I accualy read the first page of Bibel( very anoying book, puts out stuff with no explanations)
I know the part GOd creates earth and people.. The best part is noone tells that officialy but everyone refer to god as a PERSON :DDDDwith mind like ours :D I think that was the mistake to lead all these theories and thoughts and religions. Thats the very core of me knowing that its just fantasy.. when I tried believing god I tried to obtain the godly feeling what it means to be god over something.. the thing with god understanding people and listening to us ( like in religions about praying and ect.. ) doesnt match to beng godly. The first thing I knew that if thar was something that can be godly its definnetly not a person ( like my grandpa) ruling over us, because nothing of that has nothing to do with our mentality or minds or how you call it.. Ah im SO bad with words.. Deep inside my mind i have a feeling that YOURE described god people DOESNT EXIST.
So ill lay this here too because it involves youre god too. God gives peaople the sense of good.. but good isnt one sided if its there then there the opposite = evil(bad) the god theory gives that people who do eveil things = sinners must be punished .. this drives deep into people, and they have this feeling of JUSTICE. Im just saying if I see you bringing justice upon something Ill lock you up until youre curred, because I believe you endanger people around you and by the definition that is why people are put into prison, theyre not there because being punished , theyre put there because theyre dangereous to others. Did you get , ill let you be haapy about youre liitle god theories as long as you dont take it too seriously, so dont mix universe and scince in this, it has notnhing to with it.

I just got curious when my world religions professor asked us the same question and we were all confused, we couldn't come up with anything. If you were asked "If you were god(who is already perfect) why would you need to make something(humans) that looks like you?" what would you have said?
Yeah the bible doesn't really explain much of what it is telling us so it really makes people like me curious. Curiosity is also the reason why Adam and Eve were banished from the garden of Eden.

We live in a society and if we can't get along with others it would be complicated, so conforming is very important because it makes things simpler. Teachers are there to teach, and not there to discuss something out of their material(subject) because going off topic to what you're teacher is teaching is disrupting the other students from learning the subject. Well, if you can't ask them then ask here. It's a good thing that you know these things. My teacher also teaches mythology, philosophy other than religion so it is not surprising for him to ask such questions.

Ahh kinda want teachers that ask that kind of stuff... all of mine are everyday people, all they do is go to work and pass their hours ;( Atm y school students and teachers treat each other like equals ( jsut like friends or peopple met on street ) they dont hide thing , and discuss them. And In the first year at that school when I stated my opinions both the teachers and the students didnt accept anything , told me to stop fantasise, and told that Im pretending to be smartass and ect. I had opinion on almost everything , but now my actions could be called " smile and wawe". I wasnt mad I started to understand reasons why , but nvm that. Must be cool having developed teachers ( even if its religion) :))

I think the true essence of G-d can not be experienced by humans so G-d has to take a form and He/She can! That's why many non believers say man created G-d when the believers are experiencing G-d the safest way they can. Early peoples found G-d in the forces of nature and He/She was split into many . Then later The Jews " saw" Him as One G-d and the Christians See Him as Jesus. He is Allah for the children of Islam. Many different forms and names but One Being.
Why make humans? I think G-d had a brainstorm and made humans. He at first thought of coming down and living with us but when He saw how evil Humans Can be He was so upset like a first time parent would be and He went up to heaven ans we have been distant ever since. If you are Christian , then Jesus is a bridge? He is the go between a pi$$ed off G-d and man? I am not so sure about that last sentence . It is a guess.

I partially agree with Lotterylover here. My thoughts are that we are like gods children. Before us God had angels but the angels were not made like us, where they could choose or had free will as we do they were made more as servants. Certainly some of them seemed rebellious but to what extent did they have free will. I imagine if I was a being that was alive for what seemed like an eternity I would kind of wish I had someone around that was a bit more like myself in character than blind followers. I don't think we are literally made in his image I think the image that is being talked about is a metaphor. Who knows maybe it means he used his DNA to create us. I guess you could ponder on this an eternity and until the end of times we probably won't know.

Are you saying that god was bored with angels?

I believe being created in God's image means we hate, love and create based on our ability to think and reason not from instinct like the beasts. I believe God created us to love Him and to be loved by Him, but He gives us the freedom to choose whether or not we'll love Him. I think God wants us to be a part of His family, but He won't insist that we be if we choose not to be.

So do you mean god was lonely so he created humans to have a family?

I don't know whether or not He was lonely, but I do believe He wants us to be part of His family and has given us the opportunity to be adopted by Him.

All living things whenever they reproduce themselves they reproduce them after their own image. We have children in our own images and not in the image of a money, lion, or a goat. Similarly God created us in his own image because we are children of God. He has produced us therefore in his own image. In man God had revealed his divine presence.

Why do we want to become parents? It is because we want to go and live in our children. God also wants to do the same.

The God have to..because his image is perfect and he wants us to be in the same pattern of his image. It is impossible for him to create image like Alien or ET.
The God love busy life because he is so lonely for all time. So, he create human with life of busy every moment especially in searching for income for life.

So god created us in his image so he can see himself in an imperfect manner? So is it like a self reflection for self improvement or something?

Hi! I dare not answer your question as I don't know the answer. But your question brought up another thought. Just to one curiosity to your curiosities.
So, here goes....During the Greed period, gods were created after the image of man.
As I said, just a curiosity added. Cheers.
