What do you do when you have headache? Do you put oil on your head? I have seen many people do so during headache. I doubt that works. How oil can relieve this I really doubt. In my case I never use any oil. But my family member force me to use oil. I prefer balm or any pain reviler. By the way what do you do? Do you use oil?

When i get a head massage, aromatherapy oil is used and it feels good and relaxing. It is also an effective way to free myself from the headache. But usually when I have a headache, I use a balm i call "krane". I bought it from a chinese medicine store. I think it has a menthol to it that leaves the head feel cold. It is also effective for curing my headache. A friend of mine just shared to me a tip that he had read in one of his mails in yahoo. He said that when a headache or migraine occurs, it is best to drink Gatorade. According to what he has read, drinking Gatorade during a headache brings relief fast. I might try that one too.

no, i believe its quackery. it kinda reminds me of people who rub WD-40 on their knees because they feel their not lubricated enough.

If my headache, I do not use oil. I prefer to drink migraine headaches, then I sleep. After the wake, my headache would be reduced.

HI Jack, We meet again! I have oily hair and have never liked that oily and sticky feeling on my hair. So I never put hair oil. On that, to worsen the matters, I am now planning to keep long hair. So I am not sure about that oil thing. But for headaches, like you, I too prefer to use Balms and even a pain reliever. But I know that taking the pills is not that nice. So on most of the occasions, it is only the Balm - I use an ayurvedic one by the name Sensor. I have been using this since ages. Cheers and lets try to keep the aches away, theSids

I don't use regular oil, I prefer liniment oil that has menthol, it helps relieve pains and aches, except heartaches :)but it is really good when I use it on my forehead or temple to ease headache.

I read a few responses and it seems that lots of people knew exactly what you meant about using oil. When I read your discussion my first thought was...oil, how does that work, never heard that one before... so I must say I was quite surprised to read that so many people use oil on their temples...hmmm...never knew this before. I used to get a lot of headaches when I was younger, actually till about 5 years ago. I always related my headaches to stress and neck pain. After years and years of thinking that I figured it out. I started drinking water about 5 years ago. I hated drinking water...it had no taste...but I wanted to lose weight so my daughter told me to drink a lot of water. She we around me everday, we worked together, so she encouraged me to drink water. I lost weight and one day I realized I don't get headaches anymore. I mentioned this to my doctor and she said I was getting headaches all those years because I was dehydrated. So when I was taking pain killers I was drinking them with water and it was mostly the water that was taking my headache away. Now I make sure I drink at least 6 glasses of water a day...still don't like the taste of water...and I don't ever get a headache anymore. And the very odd time I do I just down a big glass or two of water and my headache goes away almost instantly. Cheers my friend and happy mylotting, Chris

I have never used oil for a headache. I like to use regular pain reliever but I do know the pills can upset your stomach and taking too much is not good for kidneys so if I found an oil that would work, I'd probably use it.

No. I don't put oil on my head. I usually go lay down in a quiet space and try not to think of anything. Being still has proven to be the best way for me to relieve headaches.

Yes sometimes I put cold oil on my head while I feel headache but mostly I put balm in headache. Because when I put balm then I feel very relax and sometimes when oils and balms doesn’t works then I like to take pain killer. I know it’s bad if I take it for every time but I don’t want to feel headache so sometimes I also take medicine.

Hmm this is a new thing for me. I have never heard of anyone putting an oil on their head when they have headache. For me, whenever I have headache, I just try to calm down, close my eyes, then rest. I tried to not take too much medicine like pain killer and all because it is not good for health. I'd rather have a warm bath then have a sleep after that. It usually helps me well after a few hours. Have a nice day
