Do you get mad or do you get even?

I know we're all supposed to be patient with other people and forgive them if they did something wrong to us but let's admit we're not that good all the time. I heard a friend once said "I don't get mad, i get even". I know he meant that as a joke but come to think of it, is it better to get mad or just get even? What do you think?

lol, now that's another option I haven't thought of :) maybe because I don't have the money nor the time for something like that :)

It's difficult to go through life without getting mad at someone or something. Getting even is just spiteful and hurtful. getting even is just another word for revenge. i don't like to to think of myself getting mad enough to take other action. It just doesn't serve any purpose.

Same with me, i get mad at times but not mad enough to get even. And besides, when you try to get even you might end up with more reasons to get mad so it really doesn't end if you resort to revenge. And getting even usually doesn't make you feel any better.
Thanks for your response :)

If someone annoys me I tend to get mad, if someone does something evil and I feel that they need to learn that I'm not someone who will accept what they do then I get even. Usually I will just do something very simple that I know the person won't like but this is something that I am trying to cut down on.
We should let somethings pass us by. :)

Welcome to mylot!
I tend to get mad at many things. I also feel happy about a lot other things so it´s ok. But getting even sounds as if you rationally gave way to hurt someone who hurt you in some way. It sounds like revenge. That is a feeling that we must take away from our hearts if we can. It´s as dangerous for us as it is for the other person.
Take care!
