when i was young me and my mom would go for an early mass then visit the cementery to light up candles for my dad. after that we would prepare the flowers, more candles, food to bring just in case relatives come to visit us there. we would spend the night with prayers, chatting with friends and relatives. for years now its been different its so crowded and noisy. specially the traffic you have to go through before you get to your destination. what are your plans for this all saints day? will you still go traditional or modern?

For many years now, our all saints days were just spent here in our home. What we have been doing is just simply lighting a candle and putting it on our doorstep. Then we offer sincere prayers to our dearly departed loved ones. We also offer mass intentions by writing the names of our departed ones and giving monetary donation to the church. Most of our relatives are buried in the provinces. Many Filipinos still travel back to their provinces to pay their respects. We don't get the chance anymore that's why we just pay our respects through prayers.

am just so lucky that my grandpa was buried in another area not far from our subdivision.but i haven't built tents there. as for my moms relatives, they can't visit the province since we don't have enough funds..

Well, that really sounds like a good family bonding time together on all Saints day. We no longer do that since most of my siblings are abroad, and we are all busy on our own ways. But if i had to choose, i rather go with the noise and traffic just to spend some quality time with our loved ones =) Have a nice weekend.

Well, I hope it won't be that hot. And I hope it would be rather a short day at the cemetery.

Since I am in a different country of where all my ancestors are buried I make a little altar for them in my house and put candles, and celebrate their lives. We remember them and make traditional food and drinks. But if we were back in my country maybe I would go to their graves and visit with them.

When I was still a teenager my aunt and I used to go to the cemetery to visit my grandfather. I remember one all saint's day when there was a typhoon that we ended up getting soaked from head to foot that I started not to like going to the cemetery. Perhaps I was traumatized. Now I think I would just stay at home, light a candle and pray for the departed. Besides I have work on that day so definitely I won't be able to go to the cemetery.
