Chores!

I'm one of those people who needs a chore list otherwise I'd just bimble around the house not getting anything done (it's not that I'm lazy, I need direction!).
I tend to make a list of things that need attention and do it but I've one exception. One day a week I'll take an hour or so and go around doing all the "two minute" jobs I can see that haven't been done. It would take longer to compile a list than to do the jobs. The weird thing his this often has a huge impact on the state of the house!
How do you tackle your chores? Do you list things or are you already mentally organised enough to keep on top of it without making notes?

My Mom had a day of the week mentality, "Sunday night is laundry for the week. Monday is taking and cleaning the kitchen. Tuesday is vacuuming and cleaning the living room. Wednesday if bathroom day. Thursday is bedrooms day. Friday is the hallways and anything light." She didn't work outside the home. It worked pretty well for her. She had Saturday off and most of Sunday until night fall. We ate leftovers on Saturday. Dad cooked a lot on Sunday to give her tie off and give him a change of pace or he took us out to eat. Often Mom had premade meals in the freezer or something.
She was really organized. Unlike her, I find I have to do a list. I might work 2 jobs in one day. Besides, living room or bathroom doesn't tell me much about what I intended to do there.

Hello
Here the chores are managed by the women in the house, most family have servants and maidservants for the household chores like floor sweeping, clothe washing, dish washing etc etc,,
But our kids, usually the girls are taught from childhood how to all this, it makes them feel happy and more responsible, The maidservants remain frequently absent lol
Thank you so much for this discussion.
Professor. . Cheers, have a great day ahead.
God bless you. Welcome always.

For me, chores can be a stressful way to get things organized. I have to live through every routine I take to clean up my rooms, just to make things neat and tidy. It can be difficult, if I had to deal with cleaning my apartment through hours at a time. I guess it just a way to get my daily personal routine in check, instead of not caring for it in general.

When it comes to the daily chores, I don't need to write anything down as I have my morning routine & then I am done. When it comes to doing the biggers things like the spring cleaning, I write down what I want to get done & once I have completed a task, I will cross it off.

I am the same way. I have to make a list. I mean I know what has to be done. It's just easier for me to make a list of what has to be done. I am then able to look at the list and go down the list and do each thing. I think it also makes it less stressful for me to make a list.

Making notes wouldn't help me any. I know what needs to be done, it's just getting motivated to do it. I usually end up forcing myself.

I have a routine. After dinner dishes are done and the kitchen tidied up. Then in the morning I tidy up the living room and decided on what is going to made for dinner. I take out whatever I need to from the freezer and clean up the kitchen. When my daughter get her son ready for his bath she gets his clothes ready for school the next day. And it goes on and on.

Hi hvedra!
That's just how you work and it's perfectly alright. I'm just like you too. I do that alot at work too and there are lists of lots of other things to do as well. We just work differently, that's all. As long as our work gets done and done well, that counts.

I hate doing chores and it's extremely hard for me to stay on task! Usually I make multiple lists throughout the day because I need to remind myself of what I have to do and what's left. Sometimes in class I'll write down a to do list whether it includes just chores or if it includes chores and assignments. Most times I don't follow the list as according to plan but it does help for me to do the majority of chores. Although, if I don't make the list with times next to when each should be done I hardly get anything done. I find that I clean more when I'm tired so sometimes if I have a lot to clean in my room, I do it at night when I'm up late and can't seem to sleep. It's during that time that I usually don't need the list to help me out.

I am also like you. I love to make a list since I do maintain a busy lifestyle as a single mom and an office worker so the list is a big help for reminding me on what I need to do. I do also place a calendar alarm on my mobile phone for those things that I need to be reminded in the course of the day. I do not do all things within one day I break them down to manageable ones for the day. Those that I can delegate to other family members I delegate. It creates less stress for me and makes everybody involve in the process.

Hi! I make a lot yes lots of notes everyday. After i've accomplish things, check it & i'm set for a day or week. I feel very organize & settled if i jot down all chores and important things inside our home. Without it, my day would not turn out right. That's my nature for now. Happy listing mylotters.

For me, almost every day is the same chores so I don't need to some lists. Only on the days that there is a another kind of work to do that I have to write them on a list so I could not forget to do them.

Im used to chores, and as my mother is an obsessive compulsive woman in terms of cleaning, some of it gets on me, its hard for me to stay in a dirty sorrounding. But I also get those lazy days, when you simply don't want to lift a finger, and I just hinde inside my bedroom, enter another world through a book or simply, interact with more people in the internet...my brother is just like you, so you are not entirely alone on this.

I try to do all the chores that will make me sweaty on the same day. Mopping the entry, bathroom floor, and kitchen floor will all be done on the same day. I like to keep things pretty together so I don't ever have "big" jobs. Like I load my dishes as I use them so they won't stack up.

I don't have to make a list, I normally just notice when things need doing walking around and do them. I do tend to wait until things get quite bad though, i don't like dusting and the kitchen floor doesn't get mopped a lot.
But I try stay on top of the washing up and hoovering.

i know what has to be done & i do the same thing every week so i haven't had to start making lists yet. I do have plan every day to get something done. It takes me all week to do what i use to do in a couple of days, lol.

I am a list maker as well. If i have a specific chore that just has to get done, it will more than likely be on my list. i am always making a list for something. It helps to keep me organized.

I don't so much have a list as a I do a system. I do all my chores in the same order every day, the dishes from breakfast, sweep and mop, laundry, every morning, and one day a week or every other week I'll clean the bathrooms and dust. So I'm usually chore free by the middle of the day, and have a little free time to write on mylot before the children get home from school.
