Brazil's reputation abroad

United States

Brazil is known abroad as a very dangerous country, a country where you can not even go outside because it is subject to being robbed or shot, or something, this is an image very contrary to reality, media has this image, but who knows Brazil knows that this is not so, who know the outside Rio de Janeiro ( hehe, jus kidding). I am Brazilian, Gaúcho tchê, and I'm sure one day if you come over here will see it is a very good country to live in a very warm and charismatic people. PS: trying to erase this stain made by the media about our country. =D

Hey, and the problem is not just it, a lot of Brazilians are discriminate when they go abroad too. Brazil is a beautiful country, here we have a lot of places to see. yeah, I am a Brazilian too, paulista. violence is all over the world, and I think that Brazil is not worse than any country. It is nice to meed another Brazilian here on mylot.

Hi Lucas, I am from Rio, but living in Piracicaba. Changing the subject a little, I am part of those 44 milion that voted for Serra. I really like the paulista governament, much better than Rio, I think. What do you think about Dilma president?

I know it as a difficult reputation, certainly most South American countries fall within this. I personally think it's not really a true reflection of the place, although I haven't been so I really can't say but I have made quite a few friends with people who live there and I also know some who live in Argentina and Mexico who say those places are just as bad.

Yes people, come too see the beauty of Brazil. Beautiful people, land, mountains, beaches, food, music, soccer... Violence there is everywhere as Lucas said above. One thing that really irritates me about Brazil is the high taxes we pay, for everything. The PT (Workers Party) governament that really use baddly our money. Corruption sucks!

I think you're overreacting about stuff that has been going on lately. To me Brazil does not have that image you just described. I actually would like to go there on tourism. Brazil is always on the news here because its one of the leading countries on designing new renewable energy sources.
