She is one year old. The other dog in the home "Spot" doesn't care for the new dog. How many dogs do you have and how long did it take for them to get used to one another? "Spot" is hiding from the puppy. I think it may be a while until they get used to one another.

Sometimes two dogs never get to liking each other. But you can do a lot to help. Make sure that the resident dog continues to get the attention it got before the new dog came in, make sure that both dogs are fed seperatly. Ignore the new dog as much as you can in favor of the old dog. They will work out their relationship.

1 yr old is not a puppy to your dog Spot. Depending on the breed of dog, it is probably full grown. It may take a long time or a short time, it is how u deal with it, not Spot. If done properly the 2 can spend allot of good times together.
Have both dogs on a leash sit on the floor with Spot beside u, call the other dog to u and have both pets sitting one on left other on right , show no favor to either pet just talking and petting each one...

a lot depends on which is the "alpha" dog. but with a puppy it should be relatively easy in a week or so. the puppy will see Spot is the boss and spot will realise that he/she is just as important as before you got the other dog. that is if you make that clear to spot that its not a replacement to spot. let spot know that.

I have two dogs, Rambo the older one, and Kulas the most recent dog. They get along well almost immediately but they tend to get jealous with each other when I am around. Each one wants to be the first to get my attention. When Rambo was still a puppy he has thick and fluffy hair. But now that he is already old his hair became thinner and thinner. I don't know why his hair became thin. Maybe because of his old age. My other dog, Kulas is all white. He has thick hair. Kulas is the most aggressive one between the two dogs. He always wanted to go out of the dog's house. I love my dogs.

That is typical just like kids, when you introduce him/her to a new playmate they usually hide behind your back but slowly they will interact with each other and before you know it they are playing.
I also have 2 dogs in my house, one is a German Shepperd and a terrier poodle. It took them a week or so to be fully well acquainted with each other.

We use to have 15 dogs, 25 few years back...my family are not breeders but my mom has a soft spot for dogs. we have one beagel, 1 shitzu, a japanese spitz, pitbull, labradog, a poodle and the rest are all minipinchers and the half breeds.
In our case, if the new puppy was brought from the outside and not born from one of our dogs, it is harder for them to be accepted by the rest. but when its a new born puppy from one of the mothers, they are often being welcome to the family immediately.
