As a kid I really liked the movie for some odd reason even though its very macabre its about these two people who in my opinion need to not be married as quickly as possible but they do not realize that and stay in the house and fighting about who gets what instead of getting out and getting on with things. I always remember thinking when I was little that no object was worth my personal sanity and if I ever didn't like a person that much I would just leave them and they can have whatever. What do you think? Have you ever seen the movie?

I've seen couples who fight all the time. It's so sad, they get in a viscous circle with neither one willing to drop their end (and thus break the viscous circle) and then two people who once liked each other very well, split. It's sad. I've seen the movie yes, and this was an extreme example!

I have seen this movie several times. i wish it could have ended differently. it certainly makes you think about what we people put each other through in a marriage.

That movie is hilarious as hell!! However, it's just a no ie, nor to be taken seriously. I can't imagine two people acting like they did. I certainly hope not anyways. I have been married before my current husband but we didn't fight over who got what but because I felt he wasn't taking enough because he left everything to me except for 'his' things. Now if it were the norm, I'd have let it all go because it's just material things which can be replaced.

Yes i have seen War of the Roses. If I remember correctly, the wife wants to get divorce but the husband does not want the divorce. I believe relationship, any relationship, whether as friend , lovers and married couples, must have mutual respect, feelings(love),and understanding. It must be a give and take thing. If respect, love and understanding are no longer there, then its time to get out and get on with other things.

I loved and still love this film! I was in my 20's when it came out. I saw it in the theater. The thing that got me is see it was Gene Siskel, the great film critic , said Black comedy and I said " Yes please!" But unlike you , I saw it as how my marriage would have gone down. Way before the film came out I Thought marriage Was like this film . And There on the screen was my theory.I could see both sides but I did pick sides. I was with poor Michael Douglas. He did not Know How irritating he was ! But then again he was a husband! Spoiler Alert. For anyone who is reading this and you haven't seen this film stop reading now. I thought they should have sold the house and split the money. The house wouldn't have been the way it was without Both of them! she designed it , but he put up the money! Classic film.
