Do you still have a VCR, and use it?

I personally still use the VCR I bought in 1997 every day. Mostly recording stand up comedy, TV shows or Sports I'm not home for. Using the same tapes I've had forever. I got a DVD player, cable and all that. Tried many of the top online video sites and a few of the services(Netflix). But still find myself using the VCR and it's tapes the most, it's there and always so reliable. That fast forward button still works wonders though :)
So, you still use yours or have you completely given it up?

I have a tv with a vcr built in, and like 5 VHS tapes, which i don't use. I find downloading movies is the best method, because they never get lost! and as long as I keep my external harddrive safe, i'm good! =]

I agree Downloading is nice, my preferred method for music.
But that HardDrive does have a limit.

I do and mainly use it to record things during the day that I wouldn't be home to watch...like soaps! Or if a movie comes on that I want to keep. I have foudn that many things I recorded thinking I'd watch again, I never do! Plus, recording to a DVD isn't very popular yet. I have a unit that does that and it did work but VHS is just easier. I even bought one that I keep in the closet for when my current one wears out, I will always have a VHS player! My home movies are on VHS too so that is a major reason to keep a VHS player

They dont even make vcrs anymore or vhs movies :( When my vcr broke I had a hard time finding another one. The only thing I could find was a dvd/vcr combo at walmart. It was like just under $100. I've had it for about 9 months and its still working so thats good. I wonder what will break first the dvd side or the vcr side.

I still put the VCR which was bought ten years ago beside my TV set. But I've not used it since I bought the DVD player four years ago. Nowadays I usually watch movies and other programs online. If I watch all these programs through VCR, I'm afraid I have to spend a lot of money buying tapes. And I may be unable to buy the certain VCR tapes. I guess only a few people in my city still use VCR frequently.

WOW. VCRs? I haven't bothered with one for so long. Every time I see one or a tape, it is like traveling into the past and looking at an ancient artifact.
The last time I played a video on a VCR I enjoyed the nostalgic value of it all and I was also amazed at how far technology has come

Yes, I use a VCR to record shows that are on at the same time as other shows I want to watch so that I can watch the show later. I do it too often, I guess, since I wear out tapes on occasion. For that reason I would like to have a DVR but haven't looked into getting one since I probably wouldn't be willing to pay the price. I sometimes watch shows on the internet since most of the free networks show the popular shows for free.

I do have a vcr. I only use it if I am using it to watch video tapes or want to watch video tapes. Recently I haven't been using the vcr lately.

Wow that's so funny that you ask that question. I just moved my VCR and all the tapes up to my daughters room. I bought my self a brand new DVD player and cant wait to get movies burned to disk to watch. I am sure that on occasion I will find my self upstairs watching a good ole VHS but for the time being I have given it up.

Well we use it before but not anymore. You really couldn't compare the video quality of dvd with the vcr

Yes, I have both VCR and DVD player but do not use any of these. At the present days I can watch movies in my computer as well as my Satellite TV and I can record my reuired movies through my computer though I do not use it as it does not meets my necesity. So my VCR and DVD player is lying in my drawing room idle.

Ours never seem to work quite right. Though we bought ours used at the second hand store. I know DVDs are supposed to be the cat's pajamas however a DVD cannot withstand a child whom tosses it onto the floor, forgets about it, and it gets a few dozen scratches in it then it's junk. Why waste your money then? I need to pester DH into looking at ours... we seem to have the trouble where the video won't play at all & just pops out for no reason & turns itself off?!?!? Really annoying since I can find disney movies cheap on VHS and have bought a bunch since buying that used VCR I'd like to utilize those. And there are a few that the kids adore like Annie that I only have on VHS.

I think now the time of VCR has gone. Because now new technology has taken it place because CD/DVD player has taken their place and now everyone can afford it. So now everyone likes to watch movie on television with the help of DVD player. And I also have DVD player in my home but I mostly like to watch movies on my computer.

I dont use the vcr anymore simply because the quality of it is not that great.. however, my dad still does! hahaha :) i find it funny but you know, it all depends on peoples preferences with movies. he works at the movie theatre so he likes pretty much any kind of movie out there. I like cable and dvds/blueray
