I was watch the news the other day and the big question of the day was should teachers be-friend their students on facebook. Two teachers got fired for doing so the other day. I believe if it is school relted it is ok. Teachers should know their limit with students and no use talking about they are the ones coming on to you that is so old school. You are they teacher you should know when to stop. Don't get me wrong people so please don't take this personal. I am just say if you should come up on cases like these you as teacher should be able to solve it very easily by putting a stop to it at once. What do you think?

Well, I suppose there's nothing wrong with teachers befriending with their students on social sites such as Facebook.
Though if it's against the school rules, then let's just follow and then break it after school ends :) (just kidding on the last part)
Me and my teachers always connect with each other -- especially with my former teachers when I was in Elementary so they can also catch up with their "children".
I have nothing against teachers and students with social sites at all. But sometimes, things can get wrong.
Anyway, I hope this counts and God bless.
Take care now!

Well there is nothing wrong with it. But If the teacher is meddling with the personal affairs of students then there might be something wrong.

Well, i don't know what to say as i am not a teacher nor i have added any teacher of mine on my facebook account. I think it should be depending on a teachdr what he/she wants to do no one should tell them what they should do as it is their life and they know what to do. We should not force them.

I do not think it's ok for teachers to be friends with students on facebook. If the student already graduated from school would be the most appropriate time. There are times that you get personal with facebook and you wouldn't want to have that kind of impression or reputation to the students. It could lead to misinterpretation and have a domino effect.

If you ask me when there is a teacher has a problem with his students, do not or reprimanded in public let alone on facebook that can be seen a lot of people, we as teachers should visit or speak from heart to heart with students. we bring students into room be given direction and only teachers an students who know the problems. But if teachers and students to be friend on facebook this ok no problem. This my opinion

I do not think it is appropriate, unless of course it is strictly about school, I can not see a student seeing pictures of the teacher in a swim suit then sending LOL comments and then being respectful in class.

Well, it's ok for a teacher to be "friend" with a student, but maybe it's not very clever for a student to be friend with a teacher, especially if that student habitually uses his/her status to complaint about school, teachers, lessons and so on ^-^
Apart fron this, I think there's no problem. It's basically the same as being friendly in real life. Facebook can be useful to ask a rapid question to a teacher, for example, or to check if one of your students is going through some problem.
