I just want to know your opinion about a refund when we are shopping in stores or in supermarkets in Indonesia.
I'm sure you all ever get candy to replace the coins.
for me it's not fair, because if we buy goods and pay with candy, whether they are willing to accept?
although ever happens to be a news topic in Indonesia, it still does not change anything. still many shops that use candy as a means of payment.
when shopping sometimes I refuse to be given candy, let them think I was spoiled or anything, for me it was to provide lessons for sellers that we have the right as a consumer

Hi Nophie!.
Are they still giving candy as exchange in your town?. Well its not common now in my town because mostly candy more expensive than seratus rupiah so they will not give it anymore.
I had a store at home and we never give exchange with candy but mostly they were the one who asked it because they don't wanna have uang receh at their pocket.
Because I don't to much like candy I will prefer have exchange as money than candy. I don't mind if it chocolate .

As customer we hold the rules if you don;t like it just say it and demand a real money not candy.
Its shocking if supermarket chain do thats, well my store is more regular and most of my customer is a regular customer thats I mostly know. And they prefer candy than money but I will not give it as exchange money.
Have a nice day.

I've been upset because many times the money refund the value of Rp. 100 to Rp.200 .- exchanged for candy. eventually I want to protest it mildly, one day I accidentally went to the market I bought a vegetable whose value is approximately Rp. 500. then I went to the store and I accidentally paid subscription as though my money is less and I just love vegetables as a substitute for lack of money but who has a shop angry and it was my chance to complain on how to return the money returned in exchange candy and since the incident until The store has now never again return to the candy exchange to the buyer.

Hi, nophie. I am from The United States and I have never heard of this before at all. This is very strange! It seems to me that the only reason why they are doing this is because they are stingy about giving you any money back. If I paid for a product and I am not satisfied with this product, I would want my refund back right away! I don't want any candy, I want the money back that I have used to pay for the product that I am dissatisfied with. I am glad that I don't live in Indonesia, because they would have kicked me out of the country by now. Or better yet, I would just move myself without any prior notice.

it is annoying to get the candies as a refund. Indomaret is the one place that often play this rule. when i get this candies, i used to buy something else and make the candies as a payment too. so it is fair i think if i did the same things to them

Well I have experience this especially when it comes to small stores in the street and such.
Sometimes they are lazy to get change that they will just give you candy as a change. But if its only for a few cents and such then its ok but for higher amount i would insist it to be money not candy.

Wow that is one of the craziest things I have heard. If you tried to do that here in Canada you would either get thrown in jail or get your lights punched out. After all when you pay cash then that is what should be refunded not candy as you say they do in your country. That is just mind blowing to me with the way the economy is today.

Yes, candy in most part of Indonesia becomes refund. The silly thing is just sometimes the price of candy itself is cheaper than refund we should get back. It benefits the store of course. Why can't they provide many coins for the customers? Or perhaps trading candy is always OK though the way is like that? We better reject such kind of deed. We want coin, not candy. If we wish candy, we can buy it by ourselves.

What..? You get candy as a refund in Indonesia? That's really bad! That's not a refund at all! Maybe if you bought candy it would atleast be a replacement, but if not then it's just betrayal and abuse of the supermarket's power over consumers... I think I'd flip if I got candies when I get a refund. Sorry to hear that your supermarkets are unfair.
I'm so confused! So how much candy do you get..? =O
