One of my bad cooking mistakes was the time I was baking lasagna and the pan was to to small not leaving enough room for the grease from the cheese and etc.So since there was no space the oil and such ran into the oven. * Otherwords oven+gas=smoke which meant everyone had to evacuate the house ^_^""

I used self rising flour instead of all purpose when I was making choc chip cookies. They literallay crumbled in our hands. On the upside, they still tasted good!

Thats true! One time I did turn on the oven without checking it first and it started smoking and we looked inside and my then 4 year old had put a plastic lazy susan in the oven where he was "cooking". We didnt have to evacuate, but we did have to open doors and windows, lol. After that I learned to alway look inside the oven before I turn it on.

I had a similar experience but it was with chicken. I was baking some chicken thighs but forgot to put in the bottom tray to catch all the juice from the chicken. It ended up dripping all over the place and my oven caught on fire burning the chicken pieces in the process. The good thing was that we got everything under control quickly so there wasn't much damage. However, because of that incident I got banned from the kitchen for a long period of time. My family is still wary of letting me cook by myself these days.

Once I bought a whole fish and decided that the head and other parts like those were going to be the nicest soip for Lola, my German Shepheard. Normally I use that to make stocks and keep the in the freezer for my own use. I filled the pan with water, placed the fish and let it boil. Meanwhile I came ipstairs to do some mylotting. Suddenly I smelled something terrible. The water had boiled away and the fish had burned into the pot. I cannot explain how hideous was that odour. I had to open all the wimdows and doors and leave the pot with water to soak. It took ages to turn the pot into something decent again.

During the initial years of learning the tips of cooking, I used to either burn or spoil the taste of dishes I cooked. However, over the years cooking has become my passion and hence i seldom make mistakes, because I am very careful and concentrate while cooking. My notion is simple, you can't relax till you have cooked your dish properly. I would never come out of the kitchen after I have started cooking.

Burning my cookies or under baking has been my biggest mistake, could never get them to cook correctly either they were hard as bricks or completely raw. But thankfully I can now bake them perfectly.

It was just recently. I prepared a prawn and coconut spring roll than placed it inside the freezer. I had planned to cook it the next day so my daughter can have it for her lunch in school. I forgot to put it out from the freezer the night before so it would thaw inside the refrigerator overnight. The next day I was supposed to cook it but the whole think was frozen in a bulk. In my desperation I placed it in the steamer which only melted the flour wrapper. Needless to say, it was a mess and our food was wasted.
