I hate to jogging around the neighborhood while there was pitbull or other aggressive dogs around without their owner's monitoring. Some dogs was wandering around the neighborhood without leash, and I just don't understand why people would let their dogs go out free like that. Once or twice while ago, while I was jogging, a pitbull dog came up to me and start barking aggressively, and wants to jump up on me with its muddy claw, which scare me that it might want to attack me. I just hate people would let their dogs go out free without any monitoring.

Hi there king Parker!
Wow, that was scary. You're right. Pet owners should make sure that they watch over their dogs when they're outside wherein there are other people. About the most aggressive dog breed, I got this from a website:
* Chow Chows are one-person dogs that tend to bite without any warning. They are also a bit ferocious around strangers, and can be quite a tenacious fighter. So make sure to discipline this dog and set right from wrong, immediately.
* The Papillon is fiercely loyal of their owners - to a fault. They can be quite possessive and standoffish to strangers.
* Old English Sheepdogs are very protective of their owners so they might be aggressive if anybody tends to be too close to its owners.
* A Llasa Apso often gets cranky around kids.
* Rottweilers are extremely protective of their masters.
* Chihuahuas aren't too fond of kids. They'd rather be with adults than play around with tots.
* Toy Poodles bite people and other animals out of self defense. Unfortunately, 'playing' according to you may be perceived as a form of 'attack' to them.
* Dachshunds aren't known for their patience.
* Jack Russell Terriers are feisty creatures who require early training to prevent long-term biting and digging problems.
* Giant Schnauzers are very dominant. They often challenge adults, particularly strangers.
* Cocker Spaniels often suffer from a dangerous genetic disease known as "rage syndrome." This syndrome causes spontaneous violent action against not strangers, but actual family members. Many Spaniels have been put down because of this unwanted behavior. Check with the breeder to ensure your Spaniel is free from this dangerous dog disease.
* The Pekingese isn't all that tolerant of strangers.
* Miniature Pinschers usually have aggression issues because they've got this "big dog-little body" mind set going on.
Here's a rundown of breeds that are typically gentle but can't shake off their "bad dog" image.
* Boxers are pretty good with kids. They are good watchdogs, but will only become aggressive
* Bulldogs are very playful and gentle.
* Great Danes, while considerable in size, happen to be kind and affectionate.
* Mastiffs are especially quiet and docile.
* German Shepherds are great with kids too. These are courageous, fiercely loyal dogs who, if trained properly, will be extremely gentle to family and guests.
* Rottweilers are also capable of tenderness and affection. They have a bad rep, but if they trust you, you'll never have to worry.

I'm a very proud pit bull owner so I need to really thank you for this answer to the discussion because it's nice to see someone actually trying to educate people instead of just spreading silly rumors. Excellent list and facts within it. Thanks again so much for the information, hand hopefully it will open some people's mind on this breed.

Personally to me you should get the Best Response because FINALLY I found someone who understands its how the dog is raised and care for, not because of the breed the dog is. Well said!

A pitbull is seen as being a very aggressive dog. i wouldn;t necessarily say it was the most aggressive breed of dog. it all depends on the care a dog is given as to what his temper may be.

It is definitely a scary position to be in, while an unleash pitbull barking aggressively at you. While it is wrong to outlaw which breed, I think the government should lay down some laws stating that such breed have to be leashed and muzzled when they are out on the street. Owners found guilty will be severely punished.

That's not really fair to say one type of breed should be muzzled while others are not. With humans would this not be considered discrimination? White and black people went through the same thing for hundreds of years and now its happening to certain breeds of dogs how is this fair? They can't speak up for their breed. I hate to tell you pit bull haters that ANY dog can be as dangerous if not more then a pit bull. Look at rottweilers they supposedly start losing their minds around 10 years old and tell me that's not dangerous having a mad 150 pound dog running around. Also what about those ankle biter dogs? Little dogs are some of the most aggresive dogs I have ever seen. It all comes down to the owners and how the raised the dogs not the breed. I own a pit bull, 170lb Rottweiler and a Jack Russell dog. The only one that has ever bitten people was the Jack Russell. The reason why it happen was my girlfriend carelessness when she open the door and just let the dog run out free. Same thing happen with the same dog when my step son did the same thing. So ya when it boils down to it, its the owners fault what its dog does, not the breed.

I understand where you are coming from but to be one of those people who spreads the typical fear about pit bulls around is wrong. Many different breeds look like pit bulls and can be easily mistaken for a pitty. Your right owners of dogs should never let their dogs run free especially big ones, but I personally have never had nothing but bad interactions with small dogs. They always seem more agressive and more likely to bite you. The only suggestion I can make is call your local animal control so they will go after the owners and make them tie their dogs up. A golden lab can be just as dangerous as a pit bull so I really wish people could get by the myth all pit bulls will attack. They are just like big dumb kids who like to run around and play. I can understand when people get scared when one comes running at them because they are kind of intimidating looking but chances are its just coming over to play or check you out.
I'm a very PROUD owner of a pit bull have been for over 6 years and I will admit as well when I first got my pitty I was nervous because of all the rumors but I can personally tell you if the dog is raised right with lots of love they are truly amazing animals that will do anything for you. I have owned a lot of dogs and trained a lot of dogs but everything compared to this breed was soft and hard to teach. My dog has never bite anyone in her whole life and I believe she would only do it if someone was to approach me or my kids in a aggresive manor or if someone was to hurt one of my other dogs.
I got a Jack Russell that is ten times more dangerous and likely to bite you then the pit bull. The smaller dogs are actually in my opinion the ones who are more likely to bite. So ya if you really have a problem with it then either call your local animal control shelter or get yourself some of the dog mace that mail people use if you that scared.
