First he talks bad about Manchester United. Then you have players callin him a wh@re during a match and reports of his team mates turning against him all in the midst of rumours that he might get signed on under Man City or Chelsea for more pay. and now....he has made a complete U-turn and signed another 5 year contract with Manchester United. Publicity Stunt? What do you think?

I think this is what happens when you let money do the talking!! I think Rooney and his agent wanted to cash in before the Financial Fair Play clause of UEFA came into picture. So they tried to play hard ball. But Sir Alex played his cards well and made Rooney look like a villain in the whole saga. This prompted Rooney to do the U Turn in this whole saga. Even then, he has doubled his wages from the existing contract. So that is not at all a bad deal for him. Now we need to wait and see how many more players go down this route!! Cheers! Ram

Exactly. Most experts feel this is another sign of growing influence of the agent power in these kind of dealings. And the overall feeling is that they are playing with the careers of some of these players!! Cheers! Ram

I thought that he was different from the pattern low personality players, but it seems that I was wrong. Sometimes I have the feeling that these so called "professional" football players would sell their own mother as well, just to see more money. Most of the players are overpaid, they earn far more than they deserve, and they still have the expectation to be respected. Like Rooney when the English national team was booed by the fans and he was very ironic towards them. The main reason for this happening is that it is allowed for wealthy people to pump money in the teams and make the salaries and transfer fees explode. I think that a salary like Rooney has just received is abnormal, it is not fair for somebody to earn so much just for playing football. And they don't have the minimum respect for the fans and the team they play for, which they should represent and they should identify themselves with that team. I think if Rooney would play in one of the Balkan teams and would act like he did than he would be beaten up by the supporters. And nobody could say that he didn't deserve it. And this whole theater shows that it is useless to take an interview from a player because they are all full of crap, they say always the same things, like: "it is an honor for me to play for this club", "the fans are fantastic", "we hope to win the next game" and etc.

Hi friend no I don't think that it is a publicity stunt.Though it is true that recently Rooney has been involved with thinks other than football and he has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons so there may be a possibility that he and Sir Alex used this as a media stunt. But I think that Rooney was more worried with the departure of quality players from ManU specially Ronaldo and MANU's inability to sign other reputed players. So Rooney had to shoulder a major part of the responsibility for his club side which is draining him.He wanted tyo put this point across to all concerned with manU.
