Friends, stress or anxiety could even ruin your relationship between you and your partner. So, if you could actually lower your overall anxiety by intake of some foods, then add these foods into your daily meal, to get you with less stress and anxiety. Here are the 8 Foods That Lower Anxiety and Stress, according to Yahoo Health. 1. Dark Chocolate – contains flavonoids and phenethylamine, which are good for relaxing and enhancing mind respectively. The darker the chocolate, the better. 2. Skim Milk – Low-fat or Skim milk is good for women, it calms you. A study showed women drank 4 or more servings of skim milk everyday were having half the chance of experiencing stress-related PMS symptoms than those who drank less or none. 3. Oatmeal – We all know it’s rich in fiber, and it also helps your body produce serotonin, a calming hormone which you need when you get stressed. 4. Salmon – The Omega-3 fatty acids suppress the production of anxiety hormones cortisol and adrenaline. 5. Walnuts – They lower blood pressure, good for your heart. U.S. Food and Drug Administration recommends 1 1/2 oz per day. 6. Sunflower Seeds – It has folate which helps you produce pleasure-inducing brain chemical, dopamine. 7. Spinach – The favorite of Popeye, contains magnesium, improves body’s response to stress. 8. Blueberries – Rich in antioxidants, counteract the effects of stress hormones like cortisol on your body. So, friends’, please fix your diet with the above-mentioned 8 types of foods, if stress has been following your life for quite some time. Comment on this, tell others. Professor

Hello thanks a lot for that wonderful discussion that you opened with us. It will help me and my sister to escape from stress and anxiety. I am taking a food supplement everyday but I am not sure if it will be very helpful for us. I do believe that dark chocolate can make me ease from my depression and anxiety. Whenever I feel lonely I am eating dark chocolate and after that I feel even better.

I eat most of these on a regular basis and my stress is through the roof! Maybe it's because I have to deal with a bi polar/ adhd relative, do not get enough sleep and take in way too much caffeine!

dear professor, that might be helpful in someways. for me food is not very much of a help. i know what anxiety feels like: heart pounds before a big presentation or speech. i worry and fret over family problems or feel jittery at the prospect of asking the boss for a raise. to reduce the symptoms, i try on self-help strategies and apply psychology. if i feel like i worry too much, i take some time to evaluate how well i am caring for myself. i reduce my anxiety levels by challenging the irrational beliefs, pessimistic attitudes, and rigid mental habits that trigger and sustain worry. in other words, i try to maintain a positive attitude on what is going to come. but i do love chocolates, as well. that i can add here. have a nice day. ann

hi professor I did know about dark chocolate and I get some skim milk every day here. I would like to get some walnuts and blueberrie to keep in my room. we have oatmeal here most mornings.I do not think the c ooks here have ever heard of salmon. we have spinach which is good for us at least once a week.I cannot eat seeds of any kind as I have diverticulitis or nuts but I do often eat nuts and just chew them up really good. I love walnuts and they are good for me so that is a great combination. lol.

My mother aswell as my brother have depression and anxiety and they are on pills, where as me i can deal with alot of things and hate to take pills for things like that.I tend not to stick to a diet, also neither do my brother, yet my mother has to as she is diabetic.I do know that you should not drink booze of any type on anti depressants of any type as that can stop the pills from working, lso put you in a lower state of mind aswell.

I can't say that I eat all of these foods on a daily basis, but I will admit that all of these things are a part of the things that I eat on a regular basis. Our family likes to have all of these things and that is the reason that they are all kept in our house and we consume at least one of them each day. Now, I still will admit that I feel stressed a lot of the time, but I think that it is due to other things that I feel stress and not so much as a result of my diet.

Hi,Professor2010, I think though eating these food can contribute to low anxiety and stress, taking physical exercises is more helpful. For example,if I feel stressful,I would play basketball for one hour, after that,I will feel much better. The effect of these may be too little.

I read your article and found it interesting. However, that may work for day to day stress and anxiety, but for me and my situation, which I do not want to get into, I do not thing that will work for me. I wish I had a magic potion or something. I am a diabetic and some foods in your article I cannot eat. Thank you though for the article, maybe some of those things will help alittle.
