He Almost Lived..

As an explanation I recently left the hospital/hospice. I was in there about 3 and a half weeks following congestive heart failure. Not a good thing..I understand that! But a bit of a problem arose with Liz on her first visit. Apparently, one of the doctors waylayed her in the hallway attired in his best doom and gloom mood and told her that I had almost died which, of course, she told me.
I guess she was expecting a different reaction because I said..'OK', shrugged it off and in total disrespect of the grim reaper (and Liz apparently) kept right on breathing. And, of course, she informed all our friends with that silly line..'He almost died!!' And she still repeats at any opportunity.
So I'm thinking of inserting an addedum to my will that states at my funeral no one will be allowed to use any of the normal 'morbid' terms. Instead everyone must say..'He almost lived..!'
Kinda absurd, right? Well, 'almost died' is the same to me. I'd rather focus on the positive of 'living' than the negative of 'dying'..
Are there any notions or phrases that you consider absurd that folks use? and/or Do you know of folks who'd rather focus on what coulda been rather than what is?
ENJOY!!

Hiya greenfeathers,
Hope you are recovering very quickly. Such a brave Person I think most People´s Legs would double on hearing that kind of expression.
You are right though it´s so much better to focus on the here and now than playing the harp strings of the past.
So glad you are here to say all of that too.
Yes I know a good many harp string players and sad violin music players as well too long to go into.
I lost three premature Babies better to have known them than nothing at all this is how I feel now although I did have many bad times before I got over it.
Here is to your rapid recovery you rock is that the right expression?

Hiya greenfeathers,
Glad to hear it. You will be really fine soon and better than ever. Yes that was all a long time ago. Show must go on greenfeathers favourite song of mine by Freddie Mercury. I sing it quite a lot when things get rough.
