Its that time again and those of you who have Trick Or Treaters who bring home so much candy what do you do with all the extra ? I see kids come to my door every Halloween with pillow cases full of candy and big buckets and I know they can't eat all that.
I used to recycle it right back out when my kids were trick or treating cuz there was no way I was keeping all that in the house .I'm sure their dentist will have a feild day with some of these kids on there next check ups.
I would only let my kids keep a certain amount and then put a little around the house and just throw the rest of it away with all the other holidays coming up like Thanksgiving and Christmas no need to keep it around (and I bet some kids accumulate enough of the stuff to last through Thanksgiving )

Well when I was still going trick-or-treating, then my halloween candy would last pretty much the whole year. My parents never bought candy because I would get a good supply every year. If I ran out early... well too bad for me. I shouldn't have eaten so much!
I don't know what some kids do when they have huge pillow cases full of candy. They probably live off candy for a few days. Not the healthiest thing to do.

Hi Ally
Your right not the healthiest thing to do and if your candy lasted pretty much the whole year than you surely had a lot of candy were you the only trick or treater in your house or did you have brothers or sisters who went as well?

I have an older sister who also went trick or treating. We didn't really combine our candy though. There was her candy and my candy. Maybe I stole a few pieces from her pile occasionally, but for the most part our stashes were separate.
It wasn't really a whole lot of candy. We each had a little pumpkin bucket for halloween candy. We would eat a lot for a week or so after halloween and then when it was over we'd go back to our regular candy eating habits. Our parents usually made sure that we never ate more than a few pieces per day. It would last the whole year because we'd kinda drop off eating candy.
The last year I went trick or treating was five years ago (I was 14). We had a German exchange student living with us and she'd never been trick-or-treating in her life. A friend of mine was convinced that we all needed to go so she could have the full halloween trick-or-treating experience. (And this said friend of mine hadn't given up trick-or-treating yet, while my sister and I had sort of quit after we were ten, with maybe the exception of one year where I went with friends at a birthday party) That year we all took pillow cases and wound up with LOADS of candy. I didn't really know what to do with it all. I gave a large part of it away.

I usually give my children the candy and tell them to give it to there friends. Or I just wait till next Halloween and recycle the candy out to the Trick O traters. It saves me a lot of money!

Hi Gator
Your right thats a good way to recycle the candy and it doesn't go bad in a years time anyway so why not? Anything to save a buck here and there

My kids came back with 2 bags full last halloween, and i kept it in a cupboard out of their reach as they are young children. They got through them, but it took about 4 months to get through all the chocolate and sweets they had given to them. It saved us from buying any for treats though.

Hi Joey
Thats what my mother used to do she would hide it from us and only put some of it out from time to time or else I'm sure we would have just kept eating and eating it until it was all gone I had 6 brothers and sisters and that candy would have been gone in no time

Whatever I have left over myself, my wife and my children will eat. No doubt my children will hope that not many turn up knocking at the door but I'm hoping for a good year. Last year, we went out with the intention of only visiting friends and family, as Halloween isn't all that popular where I live but quite a few people really got into it and we actually got asked to knock on the doors of a few houses by kids who wanted to give out candy.

What do they celebrate any type of holiday that is geared towards a scarey them? If so what is or or even if its a holiday geared towards candy or treats I'm interested in seeing what your culture does in the Phillipines
