India
October 23, 2010 2:45pm CST
Diwali is one of the grand festival of India. People use to celebrate it with great enthusiasm. On the very evening they celebrate by burning firecrackers. They decorate their houses with artificial lights, diyas (lamps), artificial lamps, candles and with flowers. They also make rangoli ( designs made by colours) on the floor. People also worship Devi Lakshmi ( the goddess of wealth) and Devi Kali ( one of the forms of Devi Durga, the goddess of power). People distribute sweets and other foods amongst their relatives, friends and beloved one. This festival shows the triumph of good over evil, it indicates that light can remove all darkness and can make life beautiful. To wish your friends on Diwali you may send them beautiful Diwali scraps from here http://www.goodlightscraps.com/diwali-scraps.php and also from here http://www.scrapsplanet.com/diwali-cards.php You can also wish your friends, relatives and beloved one Beautiful SMS from here http://www.sms2night.com/diwali-sms.php and from here also http://www.smsfunworld.com/category/diwali-sms/

Hello Manasi I have never heard of the Diwali before but from what you decribe it seems to be a whole day of fun filled events and beautiful decorations and also good food but I would imagine the most important part of the festival is fellowship with one another and to wish good will and fortune on your friends and families how long does the festival last is it just for one day or does it last for days or weeks?
