I owe my good mood yesterday to Invader Zim and the American river...

The kids, and especially Dearra, are into this show called Invader Zim. Zim is an alien loser who was sent to Earth. He thinks it's because he's supposed to set up a plan to conquer Earth, but the reality is that he was sent here because he's a failure, and the leaders just want to get rid of him. All invaders receive a robot assistant to help them in their mission, but what Zim does not know is that he was deliberately given a robot who is defective. Gir is loopy, adorable, loves Earth food, and totally makes the show. It's all Dearra has talked about for weeks.
Hm, if I made an Invader Zim interest on here, I might actually lure her back. lol
Yesterday morning Dearra was telling me about an episode where Zim repairs Gir. There's a sound outside and Zim tells Gir to investigate. Gir investigates even though he knows it's just a police siren. Next thing you know, he brings the police car into the house with the office. Zim freaks out because now the officer has seen that he's an alien, and he's going to have to wipe his memory. He does it by replacing his brain with a squid brain. Meanwhile, Gir in his upgraded state, realizes that Zim is no kind of leader, and goes on a rampage. Zim, with the help of the squid officer who can somehow, weirdly shoot ink, subdues Gir, and returns him to his defective state. The squid officer has an uncontrollable urge to return to the sea. The end of the episode shows him walking into the sea as Gir waves and shouts, "goodbye, bye, bye bye." And when the officer is out of sight, he turns around and says, "he's gonna be eaten by a shark."
Maybe you had to be there, but I laughed all day long.
And then at lunch I walked over to the river. I've never seen so many vultures in my life, seagulls too. Well it's salmon spawning season, and the birds are feasting. It was a beautiful day.
Meanwhile, back to Invader Zim. Apparently it was canceled back in 2002, but now there's a huge following and people trying to get it brought back.
Do you Zim?

When you started talking about going to the river and the vultures and seagulls, I was sure you were going to tell us the squid officer suddenly jumped out going after a salmon or the birds... But back to Zim and Gir...never heard of them, but I'm glad they can make you laugh...and Dearra.

I think that's what they were talking about at the last bonfire/scotch drinking night at my neighbor's... I remember hearing the name Gir, anyway.

I've honestly never heard of Zim, but with the synopsis of the episode that you've given here, I think that it might be something that both my children and myself would be able to watch together. I know that if nothing else, it would be a lot of fun to watch at least once with them. Shows like this that were unique are the kinds of things that television really needs today, but it also seems like they are the ones that are cancelled far too early.

Why haven't I heard of this show? Sounds like something I could get into! My sister always did tell me I was adopted and came from another planet - ha ha. Lately when walking home after taking my daughter to school (which is only a block away), that there really is a lot of nature out and about if you just look around . . . sparrows, doves, crows, seagulls. Perhaps these varieties of birds are typical, but certainly they are fascinating if you just sit there and watch them - ask my baby son - hee hee!

Part 2
Hope you get to read this comment, Dawn! I just found (like a minute ago) an old friend of mine who was a manga artist when we were going to J school as kids. It's her website - and I just tried to friend request her on Facebook. I read she married a guy who was "most known for being the voice of a dog in a robot suit" - Gir from Invader Zim! Is this unreal or what . . . I'm not making this up!! Small world!

It's pretty darn funny. Saturday I was flipping channels and saw it was on. Dearra comes running down in a panic thinking I was watching something else. Boy was she jazzed when she saw I was watching Zim.

I had never heard of it, until you have mentioned it in a couple of posts. It is great to find something to make you smile and laugh, though. It sounds pretty funny.

I've never heard of it but then that isn't surprising since I haven't heard of most of the things the young people talk about.
Whatever makes YOU happy . . . . .

Invader Zim is the greatest show in the world but of course we have talked about this before on that special place we are members of. But anyway it is a really good show and well written to be honest and funny as hell. and of course Gir does make the show my old roomate used to say he reminded her of me lol. But I would love to see the show back. But i guess i will make due with watching reruns at 1am on nicktoons lol

Squid brain! That is really funny. I really haven't heard of this, too. But your brief description of it makes me want to torrent it. lol.
I like kid shows, I really find their humor funny. It's may be because I refuse to grow up. I always end up copying kids and not the other way around.

Look for it on Nickelodeon, if you get that channel. Or Nick Tunes...
