i talked with several foreign friends who gave me the same opinion that uniforms for students are unnecessary and just adding up in the costs.
for some reason i think it is esp to those who cannot afford it. there are schools in the Philippines that really require it and some students who only have enough money for the tuition.
what do you think?

Yeah, mentioned that it adds expenses to the parents who buy them for their sons and/or daughters who are studying. It would also add more to laundry and water usage.
Anyway, wearing uniforms doesn't actually affect the performance of the student. You make a smart guy wear something ugly but, he'll still be smart while, you make a dimwit wear something impressive, he'll still be the same no matter what. Then again, some do feel more confident and even better, depending on what they wear but, it wouldn't really affect a person in a big big way.
The advantages that uniforms can provide would be the hassle free decision making of what to wear to school. Students wouldn't have to worry about what to wear since everyone at school wears the same uniform, they can change it a bit, I guess. For girls, the length of their skirts, if their uniforms to require them to wear skirts while guys seem to have no venue for any alterations.
Another advantage would be recognition. It can be a good thing and a bad thing. Knowing that one is a student, they would get discounts like senior citizens on travel fare. Knowing that you are a student, criminals would probably do their ill intent on them.
That's why, as much as possible, IDs would be very important if you had to get rid of uniforms. Guards at schools would have to check every student who goes in campus which is their job after all.

Uniforms are something that it is pointless to me and also really takes away from the individuality of the students. Should there be a dress code? Of course there should but it should not be so rigid where everyone has dressed the same. I'm glad I never gone to a school with uniforms and I can only imagine how some of the students I attended school with would react. Some of them tended to be rather vocal about the little things.
Plus it is just another way for school to suck money out of the parents. As if they did not get enough with the cost of books and the taxes and everything. Of course, its always a way to get more money. Its always about the money in many cases the fact is as much as schools are an educational institution, they are a business in many other ways and that is a shame. Still uniforms, they are pointless in the grand scheme of things.

when i see the poor people who want to study but couldnt afford these uniforms or just wait for the used uniforms from other people i think of it as pointless but i know there are somehow good points of those uniforms. like in some malls or public places where there are so many crazy teenagers doing crazy stuff, the institution can easily distinguish who those people were because of their uniforms.

Here in the UK all schools are required for the students to wear uniform so its nor really anything new over here. I think the main reason they brought it in was because of kids being from different backgrounds can't always afford expensive clothing aswell as if the kids ruin their clothes at school. School uniforms here are now quite cheap so its not too bad to buy enough and wash them every few days.

In my country we have no such thing as uniforms in school. And seriously, I can't see why anybody would want to have uniforms. Well, sure, I understand that it's a way of equate everybody, and in countries where that is needed, I believe it's a good idea. However, as I just mentioned, we've never had school uniforms in Denmark. I believe it would be boring if everybody looked the same, you wouldn't be able to have your own special look, you'll just be yet another "copy" of the others. I'm from Denmark by the way.
But that's just my opinion. How about you, do they have school uniforms in your country?

In my country all the public schools require that students wear uniforms. Because it is more economical since the students will not have to think about wearing other clothes. Which can cost quite a fortune in my country to purchase. Also students have to spend extra time deciding what to wear.
