The agreement was my unemployment will end in November. Than I got a letter saying that they were going to extend it until December. After I got that letter a couple weeks later I got a new job ( Part time) My question is since my benefits end in December and I just got a job parttime cant I still do like i was doing and still claim my weeks every week since its going to run out soon anyway. Please help me I need to know as soon as possible because I want my benefits thats owed to me but i also want to be honest so please help me it would help alot.

You can still file for your weekly benefits, however, after you receive your first cheque from your job, you need to report it to the unemployment people. They will deduct this from your benefits, if it's not more than what you get weekly, you'll still get something weekly. Once your benefits run out that will be it.

Thankyou this is good info but Ive been calling and calling and I got my first check friday but no one will answer it always says the people are busy helping others. How can you report you have a job if no one answers the line? Is there any other way to report you have a job?

Here we file paper statements bi-weekly for benefits, or there's an automated phone line to call. Nothing is ever done with a live person. Try calling them during the early morning or early evening hours, when they're not so busy, and you should be able to get through to someone easier.

I think it would be better to address your questions to the unemployment people. I actually get that as well. if I get a job I am going to claim the benefits until I start getting paid from the new job.

Is it possible to send them an email? I think you can scan a copy of your payslip and forward the attachment in email to them. At least you have proof to show that you have notified them, and you can always foward the original message until you get a reply. it is very annoying to keep calling the super hot line, hold for 20 minutes and then the line gets cut off.
