I often hear how owners boast over their dog's breed, though i have a full bred poodle, i still dont mind about breeds, i love dogs, no matter what breed they are...maybe that is why i often give more love to my half breed, poodle half mini pincher dog, because people doesnt usually notice her, and would rather play wiht my poodle, i dont understand this...
I always thought that loving pets is snot because of their breeds or whatever but because they can make you happy despite their own shortcomings like ear problems, 3legs etc.
I admire people who choose to care to dogs who are sickly and have more problems that with the perfect dogs.

To be fair, there's breeds for a reason. If you have a farm and want a hearding dog, there are dogs that have been breed for that. Just as if you live in an apartment, or small house, you'd want a little dog who didn't need much space. There are dogs who were breed to be small. There are breeds for a reason. While I think it's noble to take a sickly dog, it's not something I would do. I don't have the money, or time, to properly care for a sick dog. Vet bills can pile up rather quickly. To me, breed is important. However, once I determine what breed I want, I try to pick a dog who likes me and has a good temperment. Also, breed can help determine your dog's attitude. Most dogs of a certain breed have certain personality traits. While, like people, some are oodballs and don't follow with those traits, most do.

It depends on what the dog is being used for. If I was getting a dog for home protection then I would want a well trained German Shepherd. I wouldn't get a corgi to protect my property.
If you just want a dog as a companion then I don't think breed matters at all. Training matters though. I see all kinds of breeds who act unruly because they lack training.
