Try reading CS Lewis' screwtape letters. :) They are a book about an older devil teaching a younger devil how to tempt his 'client'.
In it the older devil says that their lord (lucifer) had an argument with God because lucifer couldn't stand that an impure creature like a human is considered equal with him.
Lucifer considered humans impure because they are a match between animals, and the divine - and the creation of such a mix for lucifer was abominable.

God banished Lucifer from heaven, because he rebelled and wanted to bot and he wanted the whole world to worship him instead of God. God decided that he no longer was fit to be in heaven so he put him out, but when he did that, Lucifer took, a third of the angels with him. That is the worst part of it, because they werre given a choice, whether to serve God or Satan and they chose to serve Satan. the thing of it is, Satan was the highes angel and sat next to God, but he decided that wasn't good enough, so we all suffer from his hatred of God as we try to do what is right and Satan makes our lives miserable. It will be a great day when Satan will be destroyed and he can't hurt another person.

What you wrote reminds me of the approach of the tv-series 'Supernatural'. :)
As I understand Lucifer was cast down because of his rebellion - apparently he didn't have the faith to follow God and therefore thought that rebellion was a better route... :) Kinda interesting thought though - sounds like part of our life is to see if we'll make the same mistake... :) Excellent topic - I'd love to see what other share!
