This is why I don't start reading books nowadays. Yesterday I picked up an ebook that my friend recommended, loaded it on my not so high tech ebook reader. The next thing I knew it was 5 am and I have to go get ready for work.
Now I'm all sleep deprived because I got hooked. I'm minutes away from my lunch break and I'm about to fly off my chair to find a quiet spot. The only problem I have is I forgot to charge my reader.
Blessing in disguise? If I start reading now I might end up being late this afternoon. I'll be on a reading binge for a few weeks because this is an 8-part series. Each one has about 300 or so pages.
Have you ever been so hooked on a book that you can't stop reading it?
By the way I'm reading Charlaine Harris Sookie Stackhouse collection. True Blood inspiration. But the TV series has gone way off the book so I'm reading it.

Yes I've been so hooked on a book that I've found I just couldn't put the book down until I had read it all, and then when I did get done reading it I wanted to read more. I do have a question, are those ebook readers easy on the eyes? I might get one, i kind of want tone but at the same time I'm afraid they might be harmful to the eys. I've seen one that boasts that it's like you're reading a book with it's LCD technology.

NEwer models of ebooks actually use a different lighting technology which makes the battery last longer. They also have auto-adjust features that automatically adjusts the screens brightness to your environment.
It's pretty cool. I'm waiting for some good hearted soul to gift me with one. The only caveat with these things is that it runs out of batteries in about two days or so. But if you're really a bibliophile and you want your books on the go, ebooks might help a lot.

I am not sure if I'd like it if It ran out of batteries in two days, but the other features with it are nice. I especially like how you can listen to the book being read, it'd be a good way for my husband and I to spend time together, while he's playing a video game I can watch him and listen to a book. I'm trying to learn Italian so it'd be beneficial to download a book in italian and listen to it as well.. I'm still sold on it I guess.

Oh I'm trying to learn a new language too! I've subscribed to free podcasts. That way I really get how they pronounce the words--accent and all. My current zune player has all that, e-reader, music, video and podcasts! I admit it took me awhile before I tweaked it to its maximum capacity. But when I was done, I really was satisfied! Really.

Yeah, it happens from time to time, but not every time I read a book or anything. I actually kind of like that feeling, it does not bother me!

I really enjoy reading so I don't mind it a lot too. Only thing is I get headaches because of sleep deprivation!

HAHAHA!!! Your ereader is dying! I'm sorry... I keep forgetting that one on the list of reasons why I hate ebooks. You have to charge them! *snicker*
Sorry. Back on topic! Yes, I love books and I've often found myself reading until the wee hours of the morning and sneaking a peek at my book between lectures and when my professor isn't paying attention. It's a bad habit I've had since elementary school. I'm not exactly sure I want to give it up. After all, I make good grades.
I'm an avid reader and I know what kinds of books that I like... so I often come across books that I do NOT want to put down. But I'm in the practice of putting down since I'm a busy person... so it's not too hard. I don't lose time that I need to do work or spend with friends or family. But I do tend to lose sleep. That's the time I kind of justify it by saying, "Well I don't have anything important to do... (Forgetting that sleep IS important, of course. Like I always do when I have a good book.) so why not one more chapter!" Then of course when that chapter is done I say, "Just one more!" About the time there's only fifty chapters I decide I might as well get through the last bit.
I've never been up all night reading though. I've read into the wee hours, 4:00AM I think is the latest/earliest I've ever been up. But I usually either finish the book or convince myself I need sleep more than I need one more chapter and put the book down.

*About the time there's only fifty pages, I mean. TYPO! Brain functioning faster than fingers. If there were fifty chapters still to go I would probably give it up before 3:00AM.

Spot on!!! I also read in chapters and when the book is really interesting (but admit it what book is not?) I always say "just another chapter more". The low battery warnings are a blessing in disguise though, when I run out of battery I have no choice but stop and get some sleep. Haha!

Too late my friend I'm already waiting for the next book. I'm watching the series though. The treatment is wonderful. Although the plot has taken a different turn in the series, it's still very creative.
