POOR DRAINAGE SYSTEM in Indian Cricket Grounds.......What do you think????

In the current series two ODI matches were washed out by rain.
The first one at Kochi and now at Goa.
I think Indian Cricket grounds have poor drainage systems when compared to other cricketing nations like Australia,England etc.
Today in Goa there was no rain, and there was bright sun shine also, but as the Drainage system is poor the match was forced to call off.
In Kochi there was rain in the match day also,if there was no rain im Kochi on match day there also we would have faced the same situationb which we today faced in Goa.
So I think In Indian cricket grounds ,the drainage facility should be improved before the world cup.

ya the drinage facilities in both these grouds are substandard ones.
firs of all BCCI should not have scheduled this tour in this rainy season.
secondly they should have opted some grounds which have good drinage system.
we do have grounds with good drinage system, but that may be preparing fro the world cup.

I dont think this is rainy season.
the rain which now occured is happened due to sudden climate change.
The drainage system should be improved

Hi,
Really poor drainage system in the INDIAN cricket grounds. Two matches have been really abandoned due to poor drainage conditions. But today's match being called off is a big disappointment for the cricket fans. There was bright sunshine but the water stayed on the outfield forcing the umpires to call off the game.So the drainage system should be really improved

Yes, absolutely right. I cannot agree more with you. It is high time BCCI started looking at the conditions of the stadiums in India and started investing in them. Drainage is one of the major areas where they have to concentrate. But another major area where they have to concentrate is the comfort of the viewers who throng the stadiums. So far I have watched two matches in the stadium in the Pre-IPL era and have not been amused at the treatment of the paying customer like me!! I would be interested in seeing how BCCI improves the conditions now.
Cheers!

If you ask me, it is not just about poor drainage system, it is about whole infrastructure being poor. BCCI makes so much money from cricket and they are not bothered to improve the state of stadiums or cricket grounds where they arrange matches.
And it was apparent that rain might affect the match and they could have shifted the game to some other venue but they didn't bother about it.
Would BCCI do the same if such things happen in World Cup 2011?
Interesting to see what they are gonna do. But it is very optimistic to expect great infrastructure and treatment for cricket fans though BCCI lives on cricket fans!

I was little bit sad today because the match called off..The ground authorities should take care of this for sure..They are not taking anything serious..Very bad..
The sun was very bright too but no match because of improper maintenance...
Lots and lots of money this BCCI is having , can't they arrange something ..

The Nehru stadium, Fotorda, Madgao, Goa is not a stadium built for cricket. It was built for football so also I feel the one at Cochi. Both these stadiums were built to stage Nehru International Football Tournament. Football does not require that good drainage system as is required for cricket. We have witnessed so many football matches played world over in the rains or snow.
As about the Cricket grounds built in India, they have got very good drainage system comparable with the best in the world after all Indian cricket Board is the richest in the world. In Goa also a new cricket Stadium has been planned and it is likely to take shape shortly. Its progress has been slowed down by land acquisition process. I hope next match in Goa will be held in its own stadium.

it is not the first time such an incident has taken place and i am sure it will not be the last time. it is a shame that this is happening so close to the world cup. although there is no danger of such an occurrence during the world cup as there will be hardly any chance of rains. but i agree that facilities related to the drainage should improve but not only because the world cup is near. this should be done in order to make grounds in India of the highest standards.

its a nice thought and suggestion that we should improve our drainage system of cricket stadium......but there are a lot of persons in this world who are just jealous of us....we should have to be careful with them because they are just seeking for chance to tease india and indians.....as you have before commonwealth everyone was saying bad words about games village of delhi without watching it....they were just saying all those words by sitting on the other end of the world....as we have made the commonwealth games successful i am sure the cricket world cup of 2011 will be successful too.....so dont worry about it...there is a lot of money in cricket so BCCI wil make it successful too...
