hello genifer!
yes, i always smile at people, even those i don't know. It's the kind of smile which is friendly yet not inviting any other kind of connotations or misinterpretation by other people, especially the men. When i travel alone, its my way of communicating with other passengers and strangers, without having to say anything. I just want to convey through my smile, that "hey, i'm glad you're making this travel with me. Hope you'll have a nice travel".
i don't like it when people whom you sit with at the airplane, buses or trains for many hours, don't even acknowledge your presence, as if you don't exist at all. Others may acknowledge you but with a frown or smirk, as if telling you in silence, "why did you have to sit here? this is my place, find another one", lol. Maybe i'm just too sensitive to other people's reactions but that's the way i look at it. It's much better to smile.

Yes. It is quite natural for us to smile to strangers.
The Filipino are friendly and warm.
It is alright to give other people a smile.

Yes, I have, not without reason of course, I think if you found someone smiling at you for no reason you would be very worried - and I've definitely had that happen to me before... it really depends on the type of smile as well and also age, gender and circumstances - I think you get the idea. Usually, when I'm in a situation where I smile with strangers is when I'm just walking along and both the stranger and I share the same moment at that point of time - like seeing a funny situation then and there, just enjoying the moment... :)

Hi,Bellapop!Yes,one day,I looked an article about this .the writer said,we found someone smiling at us for no reason we would be very worried. So,I tried it ,I was smiling at a child when we were in bus ,and he sat in my front .suddenly,he looked back and I smiled at him,I saw he was surprised and worrried firstly and then became friendly. He is only a child, for stranger 's smliling, maybe he is worried. So I think you are right,it depends on the type of smile as well and age, gender and circumstances, and just enjoying the moment.
