We are coming to a different age of computers as we know it. Computers are going back to be a dummy terminal of olden days except much more faster. if computers are to run all the applications online, there is no need for such a complex operating system. By having internet part of out daily life we can have all sorts of applications ruining online (we already do word processor and photo editors online). if there is no reason for a O/S, there is no job for B.G. So he left to make money/fame somewhere else. god bless him good luck to him.

I don't know where you got the information that Bill Gates left Microsoft. He owns it. The latest news is that Bill Gates' successor (as Chief Software Architect), Ray Ozzie, is to retire and that he 'will not be replaced'. This just shows how roles change in a naturally developing corporation. If there is no longer any need for a role, it is dumped, but that doesn't mean that the person that filled the role is therefore out of a job or 'past his sell by date'. There will always be a need for an operating system and Windows is not going to be outdated any time soon. Even if the future is for more data to be distributed (which is what I think you mean by 'applications running online'), individual computers will still need an operating system and processing power in order to even use those facilities. You can be sure that Bill Gates' Baby will be right up there in the forefront! Online data storage and online processing will require certain operating systems in order to run. Microsoft are right there to ensure that the people who want to do such things are only able to do them successfully if they own Microsoft products.

May be he has enough money to buy a country so he may not see the point of making some more. He may be contented of what he has for the moment.
