Monitor busted; using TV as replacement

A terrible tragedy befell me the other day; my monitor crashed into a heap of useless scrap metal after a power surge. My computer is fine, but the old monitor didn't have a lot of time left anyway so I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. Right now in lieu of a monitor I have my computer tower hooked up to my TV with an s-video cable. It's fuzzy to say the least, and I have to use the magnifier function to even see what I'm typing or trying to read! It works just fine though, and I guess that's what matters. I'm planning on buying a new monitor as soon as possible but until then this just has to do. Video games and movies play just fine, but as I said it's nearly impossible to read text at this resolution. My TV is 32" and I'm using a 800x600 output resolution, so it's very very fuzzy. Money has been tight recently so it may be a while before I can actually afford a new monitor, unfortunately. Has this ever happened to any of you? What kind of monitor do you have?
